JAB – Oh yeah, they’re just gleeful about all this. The thing they’re too stupid to realize is that this used to be pretty normal weather, but now it’s so unusual that it’s almost catastrophic.

I’ve been talking to a lot of elders around here who have the most amazing stories about how cold it used to get 50 or 60 years ago, so cold that even some of the coastal waters would freeze hard enough for people to go ice-fishing. And that water is part of the friggin ocean, so that’s pretty severe cold.

Basically people are asking the wrong question — instead of saying “Why’s it so cold if there’s global warming?” they should be saying “Why’s it hardly ever this cold anymore?”

Niles – Many snowbaths and much frolicking. She won’t even come in some nights, she curls up in the snow and sleeps in it. That unbelievably thick furry coat of hers is like a furnace.
