What a difference an election makes

From Feministe, an interesting pictorial juxtaposition:

bush-pba(1) Bush signs the “Partial-Birth” Abortion Ban Act, November 5, 2003.

obama-ledbetter(2) Obama signs the Lilly Ledbetter Pay Equity Bill, January 29, 2009.

Wow. And wow. Could there be two pictures about the same subject matter — the signing of bills affecting women’s rights — that look so different?

    And another wow.

The grown-ups are indeed in charge. Hallelujah.

The Bush photo has no women in it.

Obama’s photo has more women than men.

    Telling, isn’t it?

The visual is stunning. What a difference.

Not to worry JJ, the top photo are all Alpha Males and in some circles it cause a woman’s ovaries to stand up and salute.

The difference between these two administrations is the difference between a beach in the arctic Canada and a beach in Cozumel Mexico.

It is very good and refreshing to have Obama in, I am sure he will do thing we don’t agree with, and we should then hold him accountable, but compared to the Bush Administration it is very hard to critical of Obama right now.

HIPPIE – Equal pay long overdue. My mom worked for 63 cents to the dollar paid men.

I’ve seen these pics. And it’s cool…but it’s still all suits. Now put Harper in there and his tearing down of pay equity in Canada.

fern hill – Great, eh? I just loved this particular juxtaposition — the pictures really sum up the women’s rights situation under the two administrations.

Torontonian – Very telling, and evocative of totally different emotions.

The Bush picture screams “CONTROL”, with those smirking, self-righteous pricks leering over a bill that won’t stop a single abortion but represents a symbolic nose in the crotch of every woman in the nation.

The Obama picture by contrast is pure joy.

Bruce – It is stunning. If two pictures ever had to be chosen to sum up the standing of women’s rights in those two administrations, these are the ones.

 They need to control women, so they’re pussies IMHO.

Exactly! One is {{{BRRRR}}}} and one is !!!AHHHHHH!!!

andeeroo – Hitler’s mother saved his life too, dumbass.

Thanks for the input, it’s always nice to hear from the Fetus Fetishist lobby.

    Enjoy marginalization 8)

Lilian – Hopefully Harper will take some pointers from Obama, and not just on the pay equity thing.

JJ, he’d like to, honest, but he just can’t find five women willing to be seen in public with him.

I would amend that slightly, RB. He just can’t find five women not part of his immediate family willing to be seen in public with him.

I’d considered that, but Laureen Teskey prefers to be seen in public with John Baird

 John Baird, Laureen’s boyfriend. Poor Steve :(
