Holy cow, you’re up early. I’m up really early :(

I know you are! I noticed! I looked once and saw only last night’s post, then looked again a couple of minutes later and you’d put up ceiling cat.

    So, what you doing up?

My doggeh wakes me up every morning about 5:30. I am supposed to feed him and the cats. (He’s from a herding breed.) Then he goes out and I stumble around and make coffee. Then he comes in and all three of them go back to bed and I’m up.

He has turned me into a morning person.

    Check your e-mail re smilies.

Q’s 5 kitties say they are atheists, yet they’re definitely hell raisers at night when Q and my 2 agnostic dogs try to sleep :(

orange – Thanks so much, I’m just slogging through your email & links on another tab.

It looks like these changes can be made if the blog has a customizable template (which has to be paid for) or if the blog is hosted somewhere other than wordpress servers (ie. use the wordpress template, but host it on, say, my shaw cable webspace). My blog is just standard, hosted by wordpress, so I’m limited in what modifications I can make.

But those links are really good, I’ll probably spend another hour with them. Thanks again.

I am awake so early because I accidentally crashed at 7pm — I felt really exhausted suddenly, literally couldn’t keep my eyes open, so I decided to have a power nap for an hour but I didn’t wake up til 1:30am  Woke up with a sore throat too, so I must be getting a cold or something (which would explain the exhaustion).

Doggehs are always morning people, eh?

Q – Your dogs are agnostic? My dog is an atheist. The kittehs are satanists.

You let us down, JJ. No holiday kittehs.

My batteries died. I’ll try to make up for it today ;)

“My blog is just standard, hosted by wordpress, so I’m limited …”

There’s the other option of harassing WordPress.

Other folks online are already complaining about the new smilies.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. Sleep is good for that! I could always start preaching about homeopathy again … I mean, why get sick if you don’t have to? — Sorry, couldn’t help myself. ;) Just get on with your day …

    JAB – Yes, I know! ;)

And the more I look at the pic of those two cats and what it says, the more I think it is.

I think it is the true story of the beginning.

My dog doesn’t wake me before 8. I’m normally up much earlier, but if it’s 8 and I’m not up he figures that’s enough.

What’s maddening about it is he doesn’t want me to do anything in particular, as long as I get out of bed. There’s usually food in his bowl, but he doesn’t have a set meal time so if he ate it all overnight he’s not going to be too hungry. Doesn’t need to go out.

He just wants me out of bed so he can have it! (He spends a lot of time lying on the bed, but only rarely when I’m in it too, despite there being more than enough room for both of us.

He also wants his evening walk when there’s the slightest sign of night approaching. So in winter he’s whining to go out by 4:00, while this time of year he is fine until 8:00.

RB: Where do you get a dog that sleeps ’til 8 and leaves food in his bowl?

  15. 16 Frank Frink Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:22 am

I’m pretty sure my cats are Zen Buddhist.

  16. 17 mouthyorange Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:42 am

Cats may be satanist or they may be Zen Buddhist, but Almighty Dog doesn’t need to be anything else, because he or she is it.

  17. 18 RealityBites Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 10:18 am

I have no idea if he sleeps until 8. That’s just how late I’m allowed to sleep. Actually this morning I was only allowed to stay in bed until 6:20. Damn sunlight!

As for food left in the bowl, if you have a dog who is fed dry food, and the bowl is replenished whenever it’s empty, you’ll end up with a bowl containing food most of the time.

This doesn’t work with all dogs, of course. Just like people there are some who when given an unlimited supply of food will become overweight, while others will only eat as required to maintain their weight.

We’ve always had an ongoing battle over the bed. As far as he’s concerned, it’s his. When I first got him, every night at bed time he would run to the bedroom and position himself on whatever part of the bed I would try to enter from. If I changed sides or went to the bottom, he would scramble over there
