Dr. George Tiller was Opera
tion Scumbag’s primary reason for setting up in Wichita, Kansas — all the better to harass the target and his patients on a constant basis if they’re close by.
Now that Dr. Tiller’s out of the way, they’re moving on to the next target. According to Christian News Wire (your one-stop shop for Christian Taliban news), the hunt is now officially underway, as OR sets their sights (literally) on Dr. LeRoy Carhart of Nebraska. They started off by soliciting “abortion stories” about Dr. Carhart; now they’ve taken the next step and requested the Nebraska Attorney-General open a “comprehensive” investigation:
A coalition of four pro-life groups have sent a letter to Nebraska Attorney General Jon Buning asking him to open a “comprehensive” investigation into late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart and his Bellevue abortion clinic.
Signing the letter were Troy Newman of Operation Rescue headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, Rev. Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition in Washington, DC, Larry Donlan of Rescue the Heartland in Omaha, Nebraska, and Ann Bowen of Nebraskans United for Life, also of Omaha.
The group expressed concerns about the legality of certain aspects of Carhart’s abortion business as well as concerns about the condition of Carhart’s run-down abortion clinic that was damaged by an accidental fire earlier this year.
“Accidental” my ass.
But this is how it all starts. The stories, some solicited and some fabricated, the move into town to be near the clinic, the campaign of harassment and ongoing protests, then the legal investigation. Operation Douchebag lucked out in Kansas in that the AG at the time, Phill Kline, was a rabid anti-choicer determined to persecute Dr. Tiller. The fact that Kline had his ass handed to him in court was likely a contributing factor in Dr. Tiller’s assassination — that’s what happens when these nazi creeps can’t get their way by legal means.
So how much do you want to bet that Operation Slime is looking at real estate in Bellevue, Nebraska right now?

NOW can we reinstate RICO and bust Operation Fetus for it?
Not a bad question, JAB. Operation Fetus seems to have money coming out of its asshole — I wonder where it all comes from? Someone should take a look-see. Maybe the feds will do it since they must be investigating what OR’s relationship with Scott Roeder was.
There’s loads of super rich ultra-conservative fundies. Erik Prince (Blackwater), the DeVos (scAmway), Mellon Scaife, just to name a few. It’s not surprising that Operation Domestic Terror has big money backing it.
Dr.Prole – The IRS needs to have a gander at their books. They have to be on a DHS terrorist watchlist by now. I’m looking forward to the day that the feds raid their offices and tear up every floorboard… I suspect it’ll happen during the Tiller investigation. I’ve got a bottle of bubbly chilling for that one.
That’s probably why they’ll move. I think that their list of contributors is secret and stored somewhere in a safe. Their accounting system was probably set up by people who also work for the mafia.
It’s official – Planned Parenthood’s MAIN TARGRET – Eliminate Black People from society. See it all here and documented at: http://www.maafa21.com
GET A CLUE!
I wish I shared your confidence on that front, JJ. Until Obama cleans house at the Justice Dept. (or “Law Department,” if you’re Sarah Palin),we’re stuck with Bush’s FBI, which if you’ll recall was more worried about anti-war protesters and vegans than the real terrorists.
Piss off, thinknnuthn.
Go smear you anti-abortion feces somewhere else, thinknnuttin’.
*ahem*
Go smear YOUR lying anti-abortion feces somewhere else, thinknnuttin’.
deBeauxOs – Unfortunately, knowing that they’re engaging in activity that’s bound to get someone killed sooner or later (Dr. Tiller = Mission Accomplished), they’ve probably prepared for the eventuality that their funding might be investigated, much the same way as a radical mosque would be investigated for funding al qaeda.
I’m hoping the feds can link this Sullenger character to Roeder (more than she’s already linked (phone calls, her phone number in Roeder’s car). That’s when the whole house of cards will start falling for this POS Kill Club.
saynsumthn – The lame “Planned Parenthood = Racist” theory only makes sense if women aren’t accessing PP’s services of their own free will.
I’d say “Nice try”, but it wasn’t. Back under the bridge with you, El Trollio.
JAB – I understand your pessimism. However, I noticed a few shrieking stories yesterday about how the DHS is acting on that report about right-wing terrorists, and making a play to broaden the definition to include anti-choice nutbars. I haven’t read any real news about it though, so it could be just SHRIEEEEEEEKing.
I hope that OR’s sources of funding dry up as a result of Roeder’s action, especially from the rich rightwing neocons who aren’t quite as batshit crazy and don’t want to be connected with these terrorists.
OR operatives must know that they’ve cooked their golden-egg-laying goose.
Funny how the only actual “target” in the correct sense of the work is Planned Parent Hood and abortion doctors.
Mark my words, this is going to get ugly and Operation Rescue will be solely to blame – again.
This time though, given that some folks at the clinics might be armed themselves, it could be more ugly than usual.
Of course, while I don’t support waving a gun around and threatening people, I have no qualms about having one and using it if one needs to defend oneself against these anti-choice nutters. Or to defend a doctor from being harmed.
Things could get to the point where the anti-choicers will look back fondly to the time when their only complaint is tossing a mouthy old man off of a car…
(Cue the fault outrage from PR, who won’t read my comment. Or understand it…)
Mike
deBeauxOs – I bet that’s also why they’re in such a panic to distance themselves from Randall Terry. They’ve been fighting over the “operation rescue” brand (puke) for awhile now, but in the last few weeks it’s probably become more imperative than ever to put that distance between them.
Mike – Self-defense is the dealbreaker, of course. When I say I don’t condone waving guns around, I’m talking about the idiots who think it’s fun to bring out their guns and play with them, or people who overreact like this guy at the clinic (someone who was by all accounts reasonably peaceful following the guy and shoving a pamphlet in his face is irksome, but it’s not life-threatening).
However, some of these protesters get extremely crazy and super-aggressive, as pedgehog or any clinic escort can attest. So in the aftermath of a doctor getting killed, that type might want to modify their behaviour because there will be people who feel threatened by it, and rightly so, and they may respond accordingly. Scott Roeder was among the protesters at Dr.Tiller’s clinic for a long time, and nobody can be sure (even the other protesters themselves) who the next loose cannon will be.
It’s a sad state of affairs when people have to start pulling guns just to guarantee themselves safe access to a medical clinic, but IMO the protesters are reaping what they’ve sown. They need to settle down.
Incidentally, JJ, I’d suggest you watch my blog the next day or so. I’m going to have a response to this nonsense from Operation Assassination.
Will do! Good show.
Okay, JJ. That post I told you to wait for is up.
