Calling in conservative

The Apocalypse must surely be at hand:  on July 30th, Teabagger Nation is planning to GO GALT by calling in sick to work in protest of… taxes?… or Obama… or liberals… or something — in a campaign they’ve dubbed “Call In Conservative” (but would more accurately be termed “Christmas in July”).

“Stop the engine of our economy in protest!” — and why not?  There are a lot of people who share the teabaggers’ goal of sending the US economy into a tailspin.

I wonder how many people will notice. How much airtime will it get? Next to nothing unless you watch Fox.

It will come and go just like the July 4th Tea Party.

Call in “conservative” = Call in “sick” …? Sounds right.

I eagerly await the next time they complain about unions and the right to strike.

So if somebody calls in Conservative and expects to get paid like a normal sick day, what does that say about conservatism? If I was an employer I might be tempted to point out they are equating their political views with sickness from an employment point of view and that’s not really Galt. Then just watch the look on their faces.

I don’t think they’re going to bring the economic engine to a screeching halt, but if Dems were to do the same thing, you can bet the Repugs would be all over it, accusing them of trying to sabotage the economy in already hard times. Nothing like apocalyptic visions to get those guys boned, but only their own apocalyptic visions, no one else’s.

But Bruce, would they know what “equating” means?

    If they don’t, they’re fired.

Torontonian – I really doubt if too many of them will “Call In Conservative”. And the kind of people who’d be into doing this sort of thing, well, would anyone even notice if they didn’t show up for work?

Dan – Oh no no no! This is different! This isn’t like being a lazy union bastard who gets paid sick leave, this is being a lazy bastard who wishes he was in a union so he could get paid sick leave when he Calls In Conservative.

So if somebody calls in Conservative and expects to get paid like a normal sick day, what does that say about conservatism?

I think it starts with the letter “H”.

I don’t think they’re going to bring the economic engine to a screeching halt, but if Dems were to do the same thing, you can bet the Repugs would be all over it, accusing them of trying to sabotage the economy in already hard times.

Yes, by definition I guess it’s impossible for Democrats to Go Galt. Let’s face it, they’ve just come up with a new name for “mental health day” as we used to call it.

orange – “Equating” — too many syllables. They like words like “go” and “Galt”, makes life simple.
