Teabaggitude

tree-of-liberty-goofball… it’s all fun and games and angry town halls and Teabaggapalooza Parades until someone actually “waters the tree of liberty” and hangs a goverment worker from it:

The FBI is investigating the hanging death of a U.S. Census worker near a Kentucky cemetery, and a law enforcement official told The Associated Press the word ‘fed” was scrawled on the dead man’s chest.

The body of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old part-time Census field worker and occasional teacher, was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky. The Census has suspended door-to-door interviews in rural Clay County, where the body was found, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Investigators are still trying to determine whether the death was a killing or a suicide, and if a killing, whether the motive was related to his government job or to anti-government sentiment.  (emphasis mine)

The Teabagosphere is worried… no, not about the victim and his family (what were you thinking!?), but about whether the murder might make them look bad.

Did someone say “Fifth column of insanity”?

UPDATE: Cliff has more to say.

Let’s see, a sign like “It’s time to water the tree of Liberty” is pretty much a call to piss on it, and their worried about their image. They don’t even know what they’re protesting.

How long until Ann Coulter blames this death on Left-Wing-Zealots® ??

Real trees don’t need blood to water them.

    Fucking dumbasses.

Bruce – That’s only a bite of the entire quote, from Thomas Jefferson:

The tree of Liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

    Bleatmop – Hmmm… in about 5… 4… 3…

The cretins at redstate are already thinking it might be a “false flag” operation

Bina – I don’t think most of these teabaggers understand what Jefferson meant by “tyrants” (or “patriots”, or even “liberty” for that matter).

  7. 7 Bina Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 8:11 pm

No, they certainly don’t understand. They can barely spell:

Ohhhhhhh. And we were being chastised by Bob or someone for not giving our condolences to the family of the fetus fetishist that got smoked by that crazy guy.

It was just a matter of time before something like this happened. So sad for this man’s family. So sad for my country.

Uh oh, I think Jasper’s been hitting the communion wine tonight.

  12. 12 JJ Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 8:30 pm

Fer fuck sake, Jasper, 11 spelling mistakes in two sentences?? That has to be some kind of a record.

We don’t know yet if he was murdered because he was a census worker, but we do know that sooner or later, one of the nuts worked up by the rightwing bozos.

And this is how they will react — they will say it was really done by leftists, ACORN or even Obama himself. It appears that they have absolutely no shame.

  14. 14 JJ Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 8:34 pm

Dr.Prole – I think you’re right — Jasper might be a souse. We already know he drinks deeply of the Koolaid.

Jasper, you dipsomaniac! Leave some for next Sunday’s Mass, okay?

We don’t know yet if he was murdered because he was a census worker

Well absolutely, which is why I bolded the “whether the motive was related to his government job or to anti-government sentiment” part of the quote. But it should at least be a warning of where all the escalating rhetoric eventually goes.

  16. 16 blahgblog Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 9:15 pm

    JJ,

Ya, that was in response to Jasper. I know you weren’t making that claim.

Nothing like a good lynching to get the right all hot and heavy.

The way I see it, either (1) Sparkman’s government job really was the motive, or else (2) the killer(s) considered Sparkman’s government job to be a plausible blind — which would mean they expected other people to just naturally understand why someone would want to kill a government worker. It’s really bad either way.

  19. 19 JJ Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 7:32 am

Chet – Yeah, I was also thinking drugs, and maybe they wanted people to think the motive was anti-government sentiment (the “blind”). You’re right, this highlights something else really disturbing — that whoever did it knows the anti-government hysteria is so bad that this would seem to be an acceptable explanation.

    Gasper, learn to spell.

    And lighten the fuck up.

And most of all–head out of ass, please!
