Just to reiterate my update in the “Auction for Roeder” post, Ebay has announced that it won’t allow the anti-abortion terrorists’ auction:
An eBay auction planned by abortion opponents to raise money for the man accused of killing Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller will not be permitted, company officials said Tuesday.
“Based on the details we know about the anticipated listings, we believe these would violate our policy regarding offensive material,” the company said in a statement to The Kansas City Star. “EBay will not permit the items in question to be posted to the eBay site, and they will be removed if they are posted.”
That’s a relief, though not entirely unexpected. Virtually every item on the block for this little online terrorist bake sale violated Ebay’s Offensive Material policy, especially the “murderabilia” and “violent felons” categories. What was totally, boringly, stultifyingly predictable was the response of the would-be “auctioneers”, who immediately unleashed a shitstream of mindless and meaningless gibberish about free speech and the Constitution:
“They’re not only chilling the First Amendment of the Constitution, they’re raping the whole Constitution,” said Regina Dinwiddie, a Kansas City abortion opponent and friend of Roeder.
Raping the whole Constitution!! Right, well let’s hope the Constitution doesn’t find itself pregnant as a result, because Dinwiddie would no doubt force it by any means necessary to carry the pregnancy to term.

Good article. I love how they scream “freedom of Speech”. Ebay is a business – it is not the public street or neighborhood city park. There is no such thing as freedom of speech within its walls – only what it deems is proper for its own business. Good move on Ebay’s part. Too bad about Dimwitted – I could find no instance of rape – perhaps its just a wild dream on her part? LOL
Damn, I should’ve predicted they’d go after the Constitution. It’s the same thing they did when that TV channel pulled the ads for that nonsense therapy.
Not much to say really, do they even know what freedom of speech is?
They don’t seem to get a company has a right to decide what message they send out too.
Does Dimwiddle actually know what the US Constitution is, or what articles are found in it?
I’d be willing to bet that she’s as ignorant as her fellow travellers, the anti-public health care rightwing batshit crazies.
Funny thing is they don’t have much to say about a company’s freedom of speech when they try to force them to stop selling something they find offensive
And what’s especially ironic is that these are the same sort of people who think that businesses have the right to lie to you as part of their free speech, and that these same businesses have more of a right to privacy than a pregnant woman.
It would be funny if it weren’t so damned serious.
Good morrow, all!
What part of “We reserve the right to refuse service,” do these people not understand? Actually…all of it.
There is no law, and no constitutional requirement, that compels any business to do business with any one particular customer. Even hookers, drug dealers and insurance salesmen can refuse a customer if they feel the customer is, for whatever reason, not suitable. Every business transaction, from a stick of gum from 7-11 to stealth bombers from Lockheed, bears costs on both sides.
E-Bay told these people that it will not do business with them. They have every right to refuse to do business with them. And that, believe it or not, IS guaranteed in the constitution, under freedom of association, or, in this case, freedom FROM association.

Patricia – Yes, it’s always about their “freedom of speech” being trampled — even when it’s a non-governmental business that has every right to choose what they will and will not promote.
These people seem to think they should be able to force everyone, private and public entities alike, to give them a platform and an audience.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: No.

Of course not… “free speech” only applies to their free speech. They’re always the first to try to censor and silence anyone who’s speech doesn’t meet with their ‘approval’. So predictably hypocritical…
JAB – It’s almost unbelievable what’s happening with your government right now. WTF? The GOP has such a tiny minority, and yet they still wield this kind of power?? Unbelievable!
I liked this guy’s comment:
… except I would add “slashing the tires and pouring sugar into the gastank”.

Oh, but they have a higher calling that trascends all that… saving Teh Unbron.
They are complete and utter idiots… but these are the same people who think it’s not just okay, but GOOD to kill doctors. Idiots and psychos. It does my heart good to see them thwarted.
I’ve mentioned this before. The main reason why the GOP still wields such massive influence, even out of power, is because the co-dependent Dems won’t stand up to them. Half of them are already in the GOP camp in everything but name, and the other half are a bunch of fucking cowards afraid of their own shadows.
Much like your Libs, eh?
These anti-abortion people need to get a life! Stop worrying about what other people do and worry about yourself. You don’t hear us talking about what you do.
I forgot, everyone that’s against abortion is perfect. Yeah right!
JAB – Yes, a lot like our libs.
What about Alan Grayson? He rocks!!! He should sit them all down and knock their heads together and tell them The Way It Is.

That would be nice, but these people think they are doing The LORD’s Work by peering into the keyholes of our bedroom doors. They will never mind their own business, they’re hardwired to be chronic busybodies, rubberneckers and hatemongers.
