After criticizing Republican Party leaders for their total opposition to President Obama’s health-care plans, former Bush speechwriter David Frum announced that his relationship with the conservative American Enterprise Institute think tank was terminated.
Come to the Dark Side, David… we have cookies. And facts! Lots of facts!
UPDATE: At least they gave him a few days to empty out his desk rather than throwing all his stuff out on the front lawn.

Gosh. They offered him a chance to work for free in place of the paid gig.
Ahem. Well, they probably just want to see other people — you know how it is, jj.
There may be a vacancy in Canadian talk radio like CFRB or CJAD for example.
You’d think that Frank Carlucci and the Carlyle Group would find a place for you. Tsk tsk, you’ve been almost set out
at the curb for recycling.
Fox News to the rescue perhaps?
Certainly not Fox – he doesn’t fit their style. He’s not a complete idiot.
Gee. I hope he can afford health insurance now that he’s unemployed.
Well said, JJ.
How long do you suppose before he has a regular gig at CBC?
Go ahead David, go join the ‘Dead Babies R Us’ crew…
Oh cute. A brother and sister team in the Senate.
Of all the things I can’t forgive the Religious Right for, having to be on the same side as David Frum tops the list!
skdadl
Indeed I do. It’s all glorious, Long Walks on the Beach, dining by candle light while planning the next big War, then one day your beloved starts pinning tea bags to his hat and before you know it you’re waking up with a total stranger.
Torontonian
Somehow I doubt it. Frum’s critique included a scathing little line about how the GOP thought Fox worked for them and discovered that they actually work for Fox News, and what’s good for Fox is bad for the GOP.
Frum is right, of course, but it’s considered bad form to say it out loud.
RB
Exactly. Also as I said to Torontonian above, he committed the sin of being publicly honest about the Fox/GOP relationship. It’s the love that dare not speak its name!
willysnapp – I doubt he has to worry about health insurance. Most of the people against reform are the people that can afford to pay top dollar for cadillac insurance. Besides, if he’s still a Canadian citizen, he can always move back home!

The meter is ticking. We should start a “Frum to the CBC” pool.
Jasper
Frum is a fiscal con/neocon, and already on the record as being pro-choice.
A lot of people don’t understand that neoconservatives couldn’t care less about social issues like abortion and gay marriage. The neocon movement started with a bunch of liberals breaking ranks over foreign policy.
And that’s your Politics 101 lesson for today.
Antonia
I doubt if he’s quite ready to give up on US politics just yet.
Alison asked, and JJ said….
How long do you suppose before he has a regular gig at CBC?….
The meter is ticking. We should start a “Frum to the CBC” pool…..
Me, I say, it is very possible that the Harpoon might actually let Frum run the CBC
______
All snark aside, I have a very different take on this…..Essentially, I can’t help but wonder if this is all orchestrated so that the real Mr. Frum can go to sleep while he builds up his faux bonafides as a ‘fair-minded/reasonable’ conservative pundit so that he can re-awaken in real form when demonstrable falsehoods frenzy starts all over again.
