Popiousity

More brainless bloviating from the world’s foremost doctrinaire pinhead:

Pope Benedict XVI has called abortion and same-sex marriage two of the most “insidious and dangerous” threats facing the world today.

Forget about war, terrorism, nuclear proliferation, disease, poverty, imploding economies (and child abuse, really really forget about that), the most dangerous threats facing the world today are… abortion and gay marriage??

It would be hilarious if there weren’t so many other brainless pinheads that take this twisted old fool seriously.

He was interrupted by applause several times.

Sigh.

UPDATE: Shorter Mark from the Slap: “*Yawn*”.

I still can’t believe people take a man who has a made up position that seriously. I think South Park had the right idea with the Pope just being a rabbit.

I always knew I was one of the Catholic churches major enemies though. They really don’t like us monogamous types.

Bennie the Rat strikes again. Doesn’t this idiot ever STFU?

Speaks volumes about the priorities of the Vatican.

On a brighter note, Sabbath firewood collectors and Friday meat-eaters the world ’round must be relieved!

Why does the Catholic church hate monogamy? :( ;)

AlisonS – “Benny da Rat”, I like it

Now there’s someone who’d do well to take Nancy Ruth’s advice. WTF is it with these people and their bizarre obsession with other peoples’ sex lives?

Audrey II – Not to mention people who wear mixed threads… another grave and growing threat.

Come to think of it, polyester might well be the greatest sartorial threat facing the world today. Or spandex, depending who’s wearing it. The Pope in spandex would definitely qualify as a vicious visual assault of the highest order.

So true, JJ. Like consumers of shellfish, mixed-thread-wearers must also be relieved to be off the church’s shitlist.

Ironically enough, married gays and women who have abortions seem to be able to not have systemic problems with molesting children, let alone engaging in long-term coverup efforts of said abuse.

On a completely unrelated note, what’s a term for “more insidious and dangerous than the apparently most insidious and dangerous”?

    Like consumers of shellfish,

There may not be many more opportunities for that kind of blasphemy once BP gets done with the world’s oceans.

    I think it’s spelled C-A-T-H-O-L-I-C C-H-U-R-C-H.

JAB – They’re certainly working hard on that little project, even on Sundays.
