Quid Pro Quo, PBeeeze

In the comments of the Happy Wanderer’s post about the new BTs Exposeinator, “In Their Own Words”, lurks a veiled threat… stand back!:

I take that to mean that chubby little Cheeto™-stained fingers are flying over sticky keyboards and feverishly assembling another Exposeinator, “Progressive Bloggers, In Their Own Words”, even as we speak.

This was actually one of the first things that occurred to me when I saw “BTs, ITOW” — that some outraged rightwing smartass would attempt to do a copycat site focusing on PBs.  As I pondered briefly over who’d have the honour of being featured in such a setup, I couldn’t help wondering how successful an endeavour it would be, given the relative dearth of material.  I’m not implying that Crazy, Dumb and Mock-worthy are the exclusive preserves of the right, because  they’re not.  Measures of bombast and hyperbole, hysteria and hypocrisy and even misinformation can be found in surprisingly healthy quantities in every corner of the political spectrum:  it’s just that one corner’s cup seemeth to runneth over.

But you never know what an enterprising Blogging Tory might find when they start plumbing the progressive depths:  the leftwing version of Dodo could be out there just waiting to be discovered.

It is enough to make you want to write something stupid or better yet create a site full of left leaning stupid just to keep them busy. There will be no end to subterfuge. Damn you CC, damn you.

Do we know — or just very, very strongly suspect — that CC is behind this?

    I agree, Willy, it’s tempting. ;)

I just like saying damn you CC a lot. LOL

fern – I’ll take Door #2, Very STrongly Suspect ;)

Whoever it is, I am grateful: it’s the kind of Public Service we’ve been missing so much since he went on hiatus.

    Willy –
I was intrigued by Anon’s comment over there, and I hope he follows through. I’m sure there are some of us that provoke eye-rolling laughter in the Blue Corner, but it would take a lot of digging to come up with goofiness on as grand and omnipresent a scale as that which can be found on the BTs aggregator on any given day.

That said, some of them are pretty reasonable  but you really have to put the hip waders on and navigate a lot of swill to find them.

“In Their Own Words” will lack credibility, imho, until it features some of YOU-KNOW-WHO’s more MASSIVELY idiotic glurge or convoluted leaps of truthiness.

I also thought that it might be CC, but it’s not acerbic enough! Maybe RedTory is back…

    “Leftwing version of Dodo..” aaaaahhhhhahahahahahah…

deBeauxOs – Oh, I’m sure it will eventually.

    Leftwing Dodo — it’s me!

You have lots of bilious, angry ranters too, but frankly, JJ, I don’t think you could match our side for that special combination of offensiveness and wackiness. It can be positively piquant. Your specialty is spewing nonsense under the guise of academic rigour or “evidence-based” analyses that runs completely contrary to what most people see or experience in their daily lives. We kill ourselves laughing about it all the time down at Tim’s.

Sorry, I trust it was understood that I meant “you” as a collective descriptor for the entire left.

Yes, I believe you all roll your eyes knowingly about that one at Starbucks.

Do you ever wonder how four or five successive generations of universal secular public education by unionized teachers left you with so many science-deniers and fact-ignorers?

    Good morrow, all!
Peter: As opposed to the so-enlightened generations that preceded the “science-deniers and fact-ignorers.”
Five generations ago, women, natives and people of color could not vote. Five generations ago, Europe was on the brink of war, held back only by the intervention of Edward VII of England. Five generations ago, some nimrod threw together a huge ship made of cheap steel, with incomplete bulkheads, inadequate lifeboat capacity, and launched it hastily on Friday the 13th, 1912.
The past is a great place to visit, to learn, to understand.

Of course, Cornelius, I completely forgot how the Titanic stopped the Enlightenment in its tracks and delayed its triumph for several generations.

 Word of the Day: “piquant”.

But your point is well taken. Anger and dumbness definitely doesn’t ask to see your political affiliation, but the far right seems to have made it into an art and a science. It’s a real skill

Your specialty is spewing nonsense under the guise of academic rigour or “evidence-based” analyses that runs completely contrary to what most people see or experience in their daily lives.

Well, Peter, that’s just because people are dumb and they don’t “get it”. They don’t understand “the issues”. :| *sigh*

”everyone” knows that facts have a liberal bias

My favourite one is “You’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts”. (Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Democratic Senator from New York)

CTZen – The past: a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.

    Good morrow, all!
As Dorothy Parker might have put it:
If the conservatives of their day
    Had had their say
We would all still be living in trees
Just swinging through, and flinging our poo
And picking out each other’s fleas…
History is the record of human progress.

Not really, reactionary rejection of presented concepts or statements that are just as grounded in reality for no other reason than they run completely contrary to what most people see or experience in their daily lives is particularly prevalent, especially when ‘common sense’ is invoked as an excalibur to cut through all that ‘nonsense’ while conveniently matching even belief and chimera of the person invoking it. But of course, the Dover trial was just the teachers’ fault anyway.
