Family Values FAIL

Obsessing about the sex lives of other people is an incendiary formula of dark depravity that’s bound make a mess when it finally, inevitably explodes. Surprise! Yet another dancer joins the religious right’s covert conga line of Lewdness and Lust:

“Do you like older guys?” a 42-year-old Colorado Springs man who listed his employer as evangelical ministry Focus on the Family asked 11 minutes after initiating contact in an Internet chat room with a girl he believed to be younger than 15, according to an arrest affidavit released Monday by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

Turns out the “teenager” was really an investigator with the district attorney’s office, as Juan Alberto Ovalle discovered the next afternoon when he was arrested on two felony counts in Lakewood after arranging to meet the girl for sex, according to the affidavit.

Won’t someone think of The Children?? No, NO! Not that way!

Snark-a-licious UPDATE: Physician, heal thyself.

Sadly, he will get prayers and some “therapy” and be forgiven. If I did that, they’d be calling for me to be tossed in the klink for life.

Law and order is for other people I suppose…

    Omg I’m shocked.

    Not really.

He actually listed FoF as his employer? I guess he was trying to convey a sense of moral comfort, as if it’s Ok because he’s one of the good guys. Shithead.

I have to get over feeling like a cradle robber because my boyfriend is 17 years younger than me (that puts him in his mid thirties for Christ’s sake), and he picked me.

This is a terrible situation and one has to wonder
just how many others are in the woodwork.

If pharmacists, pilots and motorists can be licensed,
why not people who are in spheres where such proclivity
    needs to be smoked out?

That would have the evangelicals, among others, running
for cover. Many well-meaning organisations need to have
their staff rosters vetted quite closely.

I feel sorry and sad for his family and hope they can
survive the humiliation that comes with this type of
    situation.

This is where the conga line stops Juan.

  6. 6 Bruce Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 5:40 pm

Torontonian. They are always in the woodwork, it’s part of the world we live in.

Take the Catholic Church for example, you knew I was going bring that up, as they go into all these efforts to rid the priesthood of gay men.

For hundreds of years the priesthood was a place where a well-meaning gay man could have a vocation and ponder the benefits of a spiritual life without having to answer those pesky questions like “where’s the wife”.

They served the church well, in no small part because they were gay. This is the failure of religion today, to vet the church of gay men does nothing to rid the problem of child molestation or sexual opportunism because the vast majority of those problems are committed by straight people. Not that there’s anything wrong with being straight.

    Bruce, absolutely 100% spot on.

I’ll only add that the RC Church would also be better served by ordaining women and permitting their clergy to marry.

Mike – Yes, they’ll probably send him to one of those “pray the pedophilia away” boot camps (down the street from the “pray the gay away” boot camp).

Meanwhile, it looks like they’ve already pulled his recordings from the Focus on the Family site 😆 So I guess the other option is to they might just pretend he never existed.

    Dr.Prole – I was shocked too.

    Not really.

Bruce – You cradle robber, you! 😉 Your BF is at least well into his adult years. There’s much less of an age differential between 50 and 33 than there is between 42 and 14, not just in numbers but psychologically.

Many well-meaning organisations need to have
their staff rosters vetted quite closely.

Not closely enough, apparently. Although, I doubt if they ask the question: “Do you lust after children?” Maybe they should start.

Q – The conga line never stops! It’s infinite, like a moebius strip of depravity and degradation.

Exactly and absolutely. Gays in the priesthood are getting the boot that should be put to the pedophiles, not men attracted to men. But it’s another excuse for bigotry, and a way for them to look like they’re “doing something about the problem”. Trouble is, the people they’re targeting are NOT the problem.

Not that there’s anything wrong with being straight.

    😆 😛

I’ll only add that the RC Church would also be better served by ordaining women and permitting their clergy to marry.

For sure — I doubt they’ll ever ordain women. Apparently there’s something in some encyclical written by some obscure pope 1000 years ago that gives some lame reason why women can’t be ordained. However, they could at least let priests marry — it’s ridiculous that they don’t.

Wait. What?
