A word about the F-Words

The F-Words voting has started, and runs til the 14th.

Many thanks to those who nominated me in the Best Feminist Blog category.  I appreciate the recognition, but my feeling is that there are several far better, far more specifically feminist-oriented blogs than mine.  Although I write from a feminist perspective, my blog’s content often defies categorization (and I like it that way).   So I guess what I’m saying is, I wouldn’t vote for me 😛

But thanks again to those who nominated me.  Now go vote for Dammit Janet.

Ferhevvinsake, JJ, you can’t try to bow out. After all that stoopid shit with the Canadian Blog Awards’ women’s studies expert deeming you not feminist enuff (or whatever), I think this award is yours. Should be yours.

    Feminazis forevah!

    JJ is the BESTEST.

Just don’t go forming a coalition with any other blogs. Heh.

fern hill – 😛 Seriously, I don’t want people to think I “should” get anything just because of what happened with the CBAs. And there really are far better blogs in this category. (I didn’t win it last year either, I won “best humour” and something else, “best personal” maybe.) That’s why I wanted to endorse someone who I felt was more deserving. We should be voting on content and nothing else.

    Dr.Prole – No Coalition? Damn… I had even planned a Teabagging Party 😛

I agree, after the CBA thing, I’m glad you’re in this category.

And yep, there are fine blogs in this category and while you are absolutely unique, we’re all glad you’re there.
You aren’t the only one who rocks, there are some contenders.

    But, hey, what PSA said.

JJ, As you know we live in a male-dominated world that has oppressed women for centuries. One thing that really bothers me is when women apply the terms “sluts” and “whores” to themselves. It’s doubly degrading. Bad enough that women gain a “reputation” and are called these derogatory names by society at large for doing the same thing men do. Yet men are called “studs” and “stallions” and never get “reputations.” I once tried to convey this to a friend (she is a xxx pornstar) but she told me she LIKED being called a “slut.” I’ve no clue what motivates some people but girls don’t refer to yourselves in such fashion — throw off the chains of male-domination. You owe it to yourselves. And JJ keep on speaking out for women!

Dave – Words, Dave. Just words. They’re only as powerful as we allow them to be.

Wait. What?
