Nobody hates

…like the angry, angry left:

Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC) will not be hosting any town hall events this August — instead, he’s making himself available to constituents for one-on-one meetings about health care reform — and at least part of the reason is this: His offices have received threatening phone calls, including at least one direct threat against his life.

Oh well, sticks and stones will break my bones but threatening phone calls will never hurt me.  I mean, a death threat over the phone isn’t, you know, actually hurting someone.  And — uh, what’s that?:

As lobbyist-run groups encourage conservative activists to “rattle” members of Congress at local town hall events, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), the president of the freshman Democratic class has revealed that “at least one freshman Democrat” has already been “physically assaulted at a local event.” Connolly warned that conservative groups had taken things to a “dangerous level“:

“When you look at the fervor of some of these people who are all being whipped up by the right-wing talking heads on Fox, to me, you’re crossing a line,’ Connolly said. ‘They’re inciting people to riot with just total distortions of facts. They think we’re going to euthanize Grandma and the government is going to take over.”

And who’s behind all the insanity?  The “lobbyist-run groups” provoking these brainless teabagging pitbulls and encouraging them to spiral into violence include “FreedomWorks” (that would include freedom from health care), and “Patients United Now” — infamous for their disinformation propaganda targeting Canada’s health care system.

Death threats and physical assaults:  this is the side you’re on, Shona Holmes!  You must be so proud!

Ugh. What the fuck? Did anyone ever joke about poisoning Georgie? Not that I can recall.

Something is seriously wrong with these people, and I’m worried about where it’s going.

There’s sore losers, and then there’s the fundamentalist religious rightwingnut haters girding their loins to do violence.

And not only that, this isn’t the first time some wingnut has harbored murder fantasies about the first female Speaker of the House:

From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death. I’ve never met a soldier who didn’t love this president and this country, and I’ve met a bunch of them, at home and abroad, in hospitals and in theater.

dBOs – Sore losers is the understatement of the century. I remember listening to Air America during the Bush administration, and there was a lot of anti-Bush rhetoric, but not with this level of venom. It’s sick.

JAB – Right… now imagine if someone had said that about BUSH.

I remember there was a play a few years ago that had a scene with Bush being assassinated, and it was just dumped on by all sides of the political spectrum. (Although the wingnuts of course went absolutely apeshit over it… a play. Not someone actually talking about poisoning or shooting someone.)

You mean Death of a President?

JAB – Right. It’s just a play, but still. I thought it was a tacky idea.

Wait. What?
