About those “spontaneous, grassroots teabagger rallies”

It’s no secret that the rallies and town hall disruptions in opposition to US health care reform are largely, if not completely, organized by private insurance front groups (“Patients United Now“, “Americans for Prosperity“,  “Conservatives for Patients’ Rights” etc.).  In a desperate attempt to maintain the uber-profitable private insurance cartel, these groups have been capitalizing on the drifting, directionless fear and anger of  malleable, low-information, “dining room table” conservatives. Recently the insurers themselves started blatantly getting into the act, with at least one, United Health Group, urging its employees to go a-teabaggin’ on Wednesday with Dave Daubenmire:

However, a source who’s insured by UHG–and who also obtained the letter–called the hotline on Tuesday and says the company directed him to an events list hosted by the right wing America’s Independent Party, and suggested he attend an anti-health care reform tea party sponsored by religious fundamentalist Dave Daubenmire, scheduled for today outside the office of Blue Dog Rep. Zack Space (D-OH).

UHG is now into pretty serious whackaloon territory with their endorsement of an event sponsored by Dominionist douchebag Daubenmire, whose connections to the far, far, FAR right run from the American Independence Party to Militiamen to Operation Rescue and the Army of God.

It’s unknown how many UHG employees actually followed their employer’s instructions and attended Daubenmire’s teabagging party.  But there’s something profoundly disturbing about the fact that a big mainstream  insurance company is so determined to stop health care reform that they don’t mind making common cause with people who endorse murder and terrorism as a means to an end.

Oh, sweet Zombie Jesus, UHG’s in bed with Dave “Spaghetti-Pusher” Daubenmire? Doesn’t “Coach” Daubenmire have anything better to do, like say, disrupting services at gay-friendly churches?

JAB – 😆 😆 OMFG, these people are so fucked up. “Spaghetti pusher”??

Anyway, yeah, that’s the calibre of freak that your private insurers are comfortable being identified with 😯
