Senator Kennedy’s funeral

… takes place tomorrow (Saturday) at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica in Boston:

BREAKING NEWS:

Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley of Boston will preside at the funeral of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy tomorrow at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (the Mission Church). The Rev. J. Donald Monan, a Jesuit priest who was the longtime president of Boston College and is now the chancellor, will be the principal celebrant. And the Rev. Mark R. Hession, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville, will deliver the homily.

Well, so much for Lifeshite’s appeal to its readers to “tell Cardinal O’Malley not to honour pro-abortion Kennedy with public Catholic funeral“.    That’s right:  as classless as they are brainless, fetus fetishists are already whimping, whining and screeching about the funeral because of Sen.Kennedy’s pro-choice views.  The fact that President Obama is delivering the eulogy should be enough to make their pinheads spin off and burst into flame — the proverbial “thousand points of light”.

There’s obviously no doubt the funeral will go on.  The only question is whether anti-choice scum will have the douchebaggitude to show up and launch some kind of protest against it.  Judging by their conduct in the last 6 months, I’d be surprised if they didn’t.

I put absolutely nothing past them. They’re capable of any bugfuckcrazy cruelty. They can even look themselves in the eye in the mirror and call themselves Xian.

fern hill – There’ll probably be a ton of security, so it’s doubtful they’d get anywhere near the procession or the church, but I totally wouldn’t put it past them to set up a fetusmobile and a few blithering idiots with signs as close as they can get.

They’re despicable. Look what they’re trying to do to Dr. Carhart now — the exact same routine as Dr. Tiller — they might as well be calling for his assassination.

Fuckers and suckbags, the lot of them.

SUZY ALLCAPS has joined the parade – surprise, surprise! He’s Pro-abortion! OMG! OMG! don’t bury him! Some days, SUZY clearly looses it…sheesh

Like the Catholic priests who were a bunch of pedophilic didlers won’t get a gooooood catholic funeral.

There have been several very good assessments of “Teddy K’s” life and accomplishment – even as they take into consideration his position of privilege in American society. There was a lot of ‘noblesse oblige’ about him and his while family, even as he did genuine good work.

The main source of negative comments I have seen have come in any responses to these essays. The readers of the Tranna Star seem to outdo themselves in his case.

While thinking “GEEZE – Wait until the man is cold in the ground before you slag him.” I remember the ruckus raised when Strom Thurmond died. I recall no demonstrations, but those people usually opposed to the “anti-choice scum” (myself included) were unsparing in their (our) vitriol.

    Good morrow, all!
I find it most interesting that “conservatives” seek to use the term “liberal” as a pejorative expression.
Consider: if the conservatives had their way:
There would have been no American Revolution in 1776. The Tories would have held sway, and those clamoring for freedom from the mercantile servitude of Great Britain would have been hunted down and hanged for treason to the Crown.
There would have been no Emancipation Proclamation. Slavery of African descendants would have remained rampant, and the rights and freedoms now enjoyed by non-whites would never have come to life.
There would have been no vote for women. Suffragettes would have been arrested, jailed, and made to suffer most grievously for their efforts to give women the same rights as men.
There would have been no Bill of Rights. No freedom of speech or expression, no freedom of association, no freedom to work at whatever profession one would choose, no freedom to better oneself, whatever circumstances into which one may have born.
If the “conservatives” of their day had had their way, NONE of the freedoms and privileges we now enjoy would have ever seen the light of day. NONE OF THEM!
It took “liberals” to think of such things. It took “radicals” to make such things happen.
Ted Kennedy was proud to be considered a liberal. He wore that as a badge of honor. His brothers died because they upset the conservatives of their day. Ted died, still seeking to serve the people of his country, and it is the PEOPLE of his country who ARE the country.
For their sake, we live and die – CTZen

SQ – LOL. Fat chance that the diocese that owes its financial health & wealth to the Kennedy family would disrespect a member of that family.

Besides, if it’s such a big freakin issue, where’s the Pope? He knows what side his bread’s buttered on.

croghan – I see what you mean. Although Thurmond was a racist douchebag of the highest order and not even in the same ballpark as Kennedy as far as accomplishments, it’s generally uncool to celebrate someone’s demise. I racked up a lot of bad karma with my Jerry Falwell Death Party — fortunately Falwell’s megatons of bad karma offset it 😉

    CTZen –

I find it most interesting that “conservatives” seek to use the term “liberal” as a pejorative expression.

Have you ever seen that CBC documentary “Sticks and Stones”? It was done around the time the Iraq war was really ramping up (2004) and the rhetoric was getting ugly, even eliminationist. For the previous year or two, liberals had been called everything in the book from “terrorist-sympathizers” to “treasonous”, with the media’s help. anyway, Phil Donahue was interviewed, and I remember him saying it was “terrifying” to be called a liberal at that time. And it just got worse and worse until finally one of them shot up that church in Tennessee — because he wanted to kill “liberals”.

All those things you point out are true — maybe that’s why some of the more rational conservatives have started referring to themselves as “classical liberals” (which is basically a lot like libertarian conservatism). I find it interesting because I thought at this point the term “liberal” was toxic to all conservatives, but I guess some of them want to differentiate between themselves and socons. (And with good reason, since that category is where most of the real NUTS are.)

Actually, as I understand it, many libertarian-leaning conservatives have been referring to themselves as “classical liberals” for some time now, long before mainstream conservatism jumped aboard the Crazy Train (apologies to Ozzy Osbourne).

A pity I hadn’t heard about this sooner, or I’d have added LieShite to my Wankers of the Week. A more deserving bunch of wankers could hardly exist.

  11. 11 JJ Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2:37 pm

JAB – No doubt. I’m more specifically referring to people in the Blogging Twatwaffles, err, “Tories” — it’s either a fairly recent phenomenon with them, or I’ve just noticed it.

  12. 12 JJ Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2:39 pm

Bina – Hey there’s always next week: a posthumous award, so to speak.

Anyway, there’s no doubt that in the next 7 days they’ll commit more than enough wankery to be included on the Wankers of the Week list for some other reason 😉

  13. 13 Bina Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 6:12 pm

LOL–no doubt about that! I’ll probably get to hear about it in due course. Let’s hope I can get it to fit into some kind of weekly theme.

you need an education go back to College

Hey, I’m not the one writing run-on sentences consisting of word salad, the way you are. Just like your hero, Bible Spice, eh?

  16. 16 JJ Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 7:27 pm

Eileen – Almost a year later and you’re still having trouble with the capslock disengagement process? Not to mention those vile little things called “punctuation marks”?

    That’s primary school-level stuff, Eileen. Tsk-tsk.

  17. 17 JJ Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 7:50 pm

    JAB – Don’t harsh Eileen’s persecution buzz 😉
