Sicksicksicksicksick

Speaking of sickness and health, and healthcare, specifically mental healthcare, check out this item from the Boston Teabaggers, who are sounding the alarm about the upcoming Obama School Propaganda Brainwashing DeathPanel Nazi Indoctrination Session next week:

Dr. Barack Goebbels Obama, Chief Reichmaster Tuesday September 8, 2009_1252190161048

The deranged gibberish being spewed by these bonkers ‘baggers has escalated into  a kind of feverish and uncontrollable mania.  Nobody has even seen the speech the president intends to give, but never mind that.   All that matters is what they perceive in their fevered imaginations, which have at this point spiraled into gibbering madness — something that didn’t happen 18 years ago when George H.W. Bush visited schools and talked about education policy… as well as some of the same things Obama plans to talk about:

And most striking: Bush laid out goals — to increase the graduation rate, improve student competency and better prepare students for entering school — and said, “Let me know how you’re doing. Write me a letter. I’m serious about this one. Write me a letter about ways you can help us achieve our goals.”

Write the president a letter about ways the kids can help him!??   I think this is where we ask “Um… outrage?  Where was?”

In the overall scheme, I’m thinking that maybe it’s not such a bad idea for these people to keep their kids out of school next Tuesday… and next Wednesday, next Thursday, next Friday, and every day after that for the next 10 years.  With The Stupid running so rampant and strong in their very DNA, the deck is probably insurmountably stacked against them anyway.

John Cole of Balloon Juice used to be on the wingers’ side until the Graeme Frost Stalking Incident™ disgusted him so much that he defected. Here’s his take on the subject (bolding mine):

I’m seriously just sick of lunatics. I really am. I simply can not believe people are freaking out over Obama addressing schoolchildren. As unhinged as I thought some on the left were in the early Bush years, they have nothing on the right-wing noise machine. They’ll just say or do anything. They have no shame. And I’m sick of reading “respectable” Republicans who fail to call their own party out on this crap. They sit by and feed this nonsense, but I’m supposed to get my knickers in a twist because a liberal blogger said the “f” word of [sic] Van Jones called Republicans “assholes?”

Can we just start the civil war now so it might be over by the 2012 election?

The more they call Obama a fascist, the more I see the projection coming out of them.

JAB – Wow, John Cole captures exactly the wingnuttery-driven malaise that I’ve been feeling the last few weeks… it’s been building for a while, but I think I hit critical mass the other night when I saw that video of teabaggers shouting down a disabled woman at a town hall, because she was in favour of universal healthcare. It literally made me want to puke. (And it’s actually starting to bring out some pretty ugly feelings in me — watching that putrid performance at the town hall, I found myself hoping that every one of those assholes would get some catastrophic illness and have to go bankrupt over it.)

I’ve never seen a president treated with such open contempt, hostility and disrespect in the first 6 months of his goddamn term in office. Even Bush wasn’t disrespected until he gave people reason to feel that way.

I am usually not one to scream “racism” or whatever, but it’s undeniable what’s going on — the racists are coming out from under their rocks, and they can’t stand the thought of a black president. It’s driving them crazy.

Bina – Oh, no kidding. What really makes me laugh is when these people rant and rave about “tyranny” — hello?? If anyone is a fascist or a tyrant, it’s these nutcases.

It’s crap like this that makes me think that sentience is vastly overrated.

Here, this’ll cheer you up 🙄 video of that town hall meeting with the disabled woman.

(The guy who put up the video “Jeff the Biker” is pretty funny, though, at the end. He’s right — shove healthcare right up their fat asses.)

Way back when I was the worst person on earth for questioning the ascendance of Mr O, I caught hell for suggesting he’d either roll over or get buggy whipped by his own party. The Democrats, the Republicans and much of vocal America are determined to wallow in the muck of ignorance and Obama is an even weaker bag of jelly than I’d imagined. Given the sort of reception his most innocuous efforts have received he’s done nothing but retreat and tuck tail. Biden is a no-show, his party has abandoned the poor goof and after pooping on the progressives who brought him to the game there’s nobody left to rescue him. With majorities in both houses and the executive office, the guy can’t do a damn thing to direct the “discussion”. I am just astonished at what a poor job he’s done of corralling his own party and directing any sort of agenda. With this sort of insane shit coming from the other team fucking Cheney would have beheaded a few people and fucked their stumps on the TV, just to send a message. I just can’t believe that he, his handlers and his party are letting this sort of c rap stand. Incredible.

Either he puts on his ass kicking shoes and starts laying a thumping on some folk or he’ll go down as the historic milquetoast president who served as an utterly ineffectual, one term failure. He’s making Jimmy Carter look like Conan the Barbarian at this point.

Wow. I just read most of the comments at John Cole’s place. The US is being run by a mob. A mob of retards.

    It’s so depressing . . .

    Good morrow, all!
PSA – on the money, sir. Obama is too busy, trying to be everybody’s friend, to be anybody’s leader.
No wonder the birthers figure he is not a “Ree-uhl Murrican.” He’s intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, athletic, attractive, cogent…oh, lord, he must be one o’ them ill-eagle im-grunts! He talks too good to be a ree-uhl Murrican!
Obama needs a “read my lips” speech:
“Yo! Lissun up! Dis what be goin’ down! Fo’ shizzle! We be gettin’ sick an’ dyin’, ’cause th’ doctors be lyin’, and yo’ medicare doan care, dey got yo’ money, honey, and dey keepin’ it to deyselves, yo!”
    Or something like that…
Obama charmed himself into the job, and he’s going to smarm himself out of it. He’s gotta drop the jacket, roll up the sleeves, draw the line in the sand and call the mofo’s out. He’s gotta throw down old school and start layin’ the smackdown on those ofays and bigots.
This is not a debating society, this is a streetfight. You don’t go huntin’ for bear, when you’re only loaded for squirrel.
Stop kissin it, Prez and start kickin it.

Interesting that those fucking cretins won’t let their kids listen to the POTUS, but they swallow whole whatever billionaire foreigner Rupert Murdoch dishes out to them.

sassy – People who know damn well what they are doing are running around convincing the Dumb, who have no idea what they’re doing, that the sky is falling. The only sky that’s falling is the private insurance industry’s profit potential.

This is what blows me away. How can the Dems have so much power and still be getting beaten up by a party that, for all intents and purposes, should be in the political wilderness? I think everyone underestimated the intensity and viciousness of the GOP hate machine — it wasn’t nearly this bad when Clinton was in power.

That said, it’s been 8 months and a lot of this stuff is new, so I wouldn’t write the Democrats off just yet. They can still turn this around and get things back on track… otherwise, I agree, it will just get worse and worse.

    Indeed.

  15. 15 JJ Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 11:54 am

Dr.Prole – These people aren’t smart enough to consider what their own interests are — they’re an army of brainless winged monkeys that the GOP has managed to train to be perpetually outraged.

These are likely people who nobody has really listened to before, who never got involved in politics because they didn’t really understand it, apart from listening to Rush and going “Yeah, what he said!”. The GOP (who virtually ignored them for 8 years) has now convinced them that they’re important, politically astute and have something meaningful to add to “the discussion”, so they’re all fired up. (Add a dollop of racism, and stir.)

    Good morrow, all!
I just watched the MSNBC video of Obama’s Labo(u)r Day address to the AFL-CIO.
He had his jacket off. He had his sleeves rolled up. No tie, and his shirt was blue, as in blue collar.
He used plain language and said, “This debate must come to an end. We must reform health insurance now, this year.”
I think he just drew the line in the sand, and told the lying bigoted wingnuts to “bring it.”
Has he been reading your blog, JJ?
He just took his message to the working people of America.
Now, Prez, let’s see some Rethug wingnut hair on the wall!
    Boot, meet butt! – CTZen

CTZen – Somehow I doubt the prez has me on his reading list, but just in case:

YO! BARRY! Toughen the fuck up! 😡 Time to kick some wingnut ass!

Drawing lines is all well & good, but to keep drawing them over & over and give a little more every time, that’s not good. The idea is to negotiate like they do in the godfather: “Here’s my final offer: NOTHING.”

Wait. What?
