From the “Values voters summit”

It’s that time of year again, when religious right whackjobs gather from far and wide for what they call the “Values Voters Summit”, and what I call Wankapalooza”!! To give you the true theocratic flavour of the event, here’s a couple of their guest speakers:

First up, Miss USA loser/homobigot Carrie Prejean (and her God-given plastic boobs). Carrie and her boobs told an ecstatic, swooning audience that she delivered her message of bigotry at a two-bit beauty contest (and we still have these things why exactly?) because “God Chose Her”:

Reflecting on the contest Friday, Prejean said, “I’m so proud of the answer that I gave. God chose me for that moment.”

Really!?  That kind of reminds me of some other brain-damaged bozos who had similar delusions about being “chosen by God” to deliver a message of hate:

NEXT!

Speaking of Taliban-inspired sentiments and shifting the focus to women’s rights, another guest was anti-choice fascist “Lila Rose“.  Rose makes highly-edited “sting” videos of interviews at Planned Parenthood (and makes a shitload of money from the rubes doing it), which were dumped from YouTube because of their borderline illegality.  According to Right Wing Watch:

Rose, whose remarks rivaled Carrie Prejean’s in self-satisfied smugness,  included the standard threats against pro-choice legislators. But the most memorable moment was her suggestion that, as long as abortion remains illegal, women should be forced to have the abortions done in the public square. Nice.

I’d expect no less from an authoritarian busybody like Lila Rose.  This sleazy little scrunt sees nothing wrong with invading the privacy of PP workers and publicly fellating the certifiably deranged Phill (yes, he really spells it with 2 Ls) Kline, the former Kansas A-G who squandered years and who knows how many taxpayer dollars harassing Dr. George Tiller with nuisance suits.

No doubt she thinks “God chose her” too, for her particular mission of malevolence.

Yo, God!  Better choices, please!  Ya think!??

God has a sense of humour? Who knew?

God chose Carrie…to go down looking like the biggest hypocrite in history.

Hey! There IS a God! 😆

PS: That “Leadership Institute” that taught li’l Lila how to splice video and add “ZOMG! Something’s HAPPENING!!! 1111ELEVENTY-ONE!!11111” drama music? They also train “youth activists” from the right-wing Venezuelan opposition. And by the looks of it, their equivalent of FUX Snooze, too–Globovisión uses the exact same style. Spliced video, important context left out, “gotcha” crap, and of course, that damn stupid drama music.

    Coincidence? I think not.

In our Homecoming parade today we were followed by the county republicans. On the front of their float they had a banner with the words “Let Freedom Ring”. All I could think of was the freedom to be not pregnant, but I guess that doesn’t count.

    Good morrow, all!
Values? What values, exactly? The freedom to hike the Old Appalachian Trail, and then expect people to forget about it? The freedom to knock three times in the washroom if you want it, and then claim one is not gay? The freedom to bellow, “You lie!” about the (supposedly) biggest concern the right has about medical system reform, and then express surprise that anybody cares about what you said?
The freedom to be insane in public, and the freedom to be shocked when this is pointed out?
Actually, one is free to be all, and do all, these things…but not without consequences. Unfortunately, there is no sign on the door to this ride saying, “You have to be THIS SMART to get on this ride.” We come into this life without an owner’s manual, but at least SOME of us have learned to read.

If one accepts the idea that religion is actually true, there are a few people who were chosen by God – Abraham, Mary, Jesus.

Being able to get people to listen without having ginormous tits seems to be a common trait.

Actually JJ, I suspect what these ambulatory root vegetables really need is a smarter God to whisper in their ears. Their old one is cracked.

SQ – If God chose this no-mind for anything more challenging than gurgling and drooling, he either made a big mistake or he has a twisted sense of humour.

Bina – The Leadership Institute, yet another one of these scummy wingnut front operations, has given Lila Hosebag a pretty good chunk of change. Plus all the rubes who donate to her “live action” gig — hmm, I wonder if she declares any of it?

  10. 10 JJ Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 9:01 pm

dizzlski – It always breaks me up to see these wingnuts screaming about “freedom” and “liberty”, when they’re such authoritarian fascists themselves. Anyone who considers other peoples’ personal lives their business is no friend of freedom.

    Values? What values, exactly?

Family values, CTZ. Which means forcing everyone to live by their rules, even when they don’t live by them. Hypocrisy. And punishment, lots of punishment! Except for them.

The word “values” makes me want to puke. It was a pretty good word at one time, but these people have be-shitted and be-stenched it beyond repair.

And Obama, don’t forget him 😯

There, that oughta make the visiting teabagger’s brain squirt out of his ears.

    Good morrow, all!
George Carlin did such an excellent job of doing the Coles Notes on the Ten Commandments. Be honest. Be faithful. Be kind.
These rabid rightists possess all but three of those qualities.
“Wallll…we’re only doing whut the Good Lord would do if He had all the facts…”
Let’s review, shall we? God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and, on good days, when the coffee’s made and the toast ain’t burnt, omnibenevolent. Translation for you hard of thinking types on the “correct” side of the spectrum: God can do anything He wants to do. He knows everything there is to know. He’s everywhere He wants to be. And, on good days, when the coffee’s made and the toast ain’t burnt, He likes everybody.
He likes me. He likes you. He even likes fat, stupid, loud, dumbass redneck cracker douchebags who think He belongs to them. He probably regrets liking them, but there you have it.
He has all the facts. Thing is, the Fun Dementors don’t TRUST their God, otherwise they would not FEAR their God.

I dunno about Obama, JJ. Truth is, as a gay man I have few occasions for saying “ginormous tits” and grabbed the opportunity.

I think though, that one of the really key things about being chosen by God is that lots of other people say it about you while you say you’re just an ordinary person trying to do what’s right.

    JAB – 😯 That’s really creepy and weird!! And yet, if you don’t listen to what they’re saying, they have such beautiful voices. {{{shudder}}}

I’ve always wondered why “God-fearing” was supposed to be a good thing. Shouldn’t God be like a benevolent father who guides people, rather than an authoritarian punisher who casts people into a lake of fire for stepping out of line?

  20. 21 toujoursdan Monday, September 21, 2009 at 12:07 pm

To be entirely accurate and fair, the term “God fearing” was first coined in the 19th Century. Back then to “fear” something meant to be “in awe” of it.

The meaning has changed since then though.

Thankyou, Dan. In that context it makes sense.

SQ – LOL, those teabaggers really stick together when the rubber meets the road, eh? Non-payment? Down comes the We Are All Kenneth website. It’s cached.

I suspect they probably lost interest in the guy when they found out he was flogging Obama merchandise last fall.
