Going once…

GONE!

Ebay was apparently asleep at the switch yesterday and the auction to benefit Scott Roeder went ahead… for a few minutes, anyway:

An eBay auction to raise money for the man charged with killing a Wichita abortion doctor launched Sunday night despite eBay’s pledge to nix it.

But organizers posted items that were less contentious than those they’d originally planned to sell, and they used spellings that make searches difficult.

“I really am hopeful that eBay can see that once this is up, that it is not a glorification of violence,” said auction organizer Dave Leach, an abortion opponent from Iowa. “If the auction stays up, it will only be because eBay has been shamed into recognizing the nonviolent nature of the items.”

Of course.  How could anyone possibly find violence in something like this:

Despite the brain-damaged, fetus-obsessed terrorists’ best efforts to sleaze their little “Bucks for Bort-Hunters” auction through, Ebay caught on and pulled it.  Of course it’s still available in all its glory in Google cache — TPM has a slide show of some of the happy little totally non-violent items that were up for grabs.

Quality artwork at a reasonable price is very hard to find. 🙂
This looks like it was done by a teenage boy during English class. Needs more green…

Really — especially the big sun in the background. That’s about Grade 3 level.

Nor accuracy for that matter. I see they went for the David Vs Goliath imagery for the picture.

Shade – That must be some nasty slingshot if it can take a guy’s head off!

From what I can see, Jasper, this is a book being sold by a bookstore.

And your mouth-slobbering point would be, Jasper?

Also from what I can tell the pamphlet is an Anti-war document which has nothing to do with his original conviction. Nor does it glorify or try to incite others into thinking what he did was right.

Maybe if he had blown up a military installation or killed an army officer and the pamphlet advocated such acts you’d have a point.

But he didn’t and you don’t.

Jasper – Typical Jasper, comes up with something completely-unrelated and unanalogous to the issue at hand.

Bookstore selling a product = foaming at the mouth fetus fetishists trying to raise money to defend a (alleged) terrorist killer… right 🙄 Store that calls itself a “radical bookselling organism” = liberals… right. By the looks of their products, you’d be more likely to find militia and survivalist types among their customer base than the average latte-swilling liberal.

    FAIL! Please try again.

Shade – Yes, and what you said. This is completely NOT analogous to the Roeder auction situation, except in Jasper’s little pinhead.

Wait. What?
