Olbermann & Maddow on Stupak

Never give a fetus fetishist a taste of Power.

Bart Stupak (he who should be savagely violated with a rusty coathanger) said all he wanted was a vote on his idiotic amendment, and even if it was voted down, he’d still support the health care bill.  In his own words:

I have not made unreasonable demands. I have simply asked that there be a straight up-or-down vote on my amendment reflective of current laws. If we had a clean vote on this amendment and lost, I could accept that. My pro-life colleagues and I simply want, and deserve, a chance to vote our conscience.

Stupak got his up or down vote.  Unfortunately the amendment wasn’t voted down, and suddenly Stupak is getting snarly about the prospect of it being removed from the bill, and whining about being “double-crossed”:

“We won because [the Democrats] need us,” says Mr. Stupak. “If they are going to summarily dismiss us by taking the pen to that language, there will be hell to pay. I don’t say it as a threat, but if they double-cross us, there will be 40 people who won’t vote with them the next time they need us—and that could be the final version of this bill.”

Maybe it’s better the health bill ends up in the shitter, than to have his bill tag along with it.

If I didn’t have family south of the 49th, I would be very tempted to sit back and laugh.

burpster – It’s terrible. If they don’t get that thing passed, who knows when health care will happen.

But this really is a major intrusion on womens’ lives. It’s one thing to keep tax dollars from funding it, but to keep women from spending their own money on it is outrageous.

I can’t even believe abortion is a big enough issue to scuttle the whole bill. It’s sickening watching all these people argue about womens’ private health care business, just sickening.

    Good morrow, all!
    Bill Maher had it right:
“Obama tells us that if we had to start from scratch, we could probably come up with a workable health plan. So, start from scratch!”
PJ O’Rourke called Congress a “Parliament of Whores,” and that’s an insult to the real whores. At least with the professional sex workers, you get fair value for the money you tender, and they don’t pretend to be something else — unless, of course, you shell out extra for the role-playing feature…
    But, I digress…CTZen

I argue with god-bothered christians over abortion on facebook. I gave up on reason and simply mock their stupidity. The men are bad, but the women are down right brutal.

Yeah, Jasper. HW Bush also said that atheists shouldn’t be considered citizens, much less patriots.

    Good morrow, all!
I think I may have this figured out:
Jasper is not a Catholic, as he claims…
    he is actually…a Reform Druid!
You see, Orthodox Druids worship trees.
    Jasper worships Bushes!
Tres simple, n’est-ce pas? – CTZen

Wait. What?
