Sidelined by Mutant Molar

A vicious toothache, probably caused by an abscessed cavity deep in the root of a rogue molar at the back of my lower mandible, has rendered me incapable of thinking about anything but pain relief.  I’ve been nursing this monster tooth for a few days and it keeps flaring up, this morning with such a mindblowing vengeance that I felt like I had the flu and staggered back to bed for a few hours (no work today, ha).

I see the Dentist at 2:30 and hopefully he can wrestle this thing to the ground and make it cry Uncle.  Blogging will resume when I stumble back here with painkillers and antibiotics.

Shitty! I’ve had an abscessed tooth before. I described the pain as “supernatural”. I hope you get relief ASAP!

Dr.Prole – Yeah, I have a pretty high pain threshold but toothache is where it tops out. I just hope he doesn’t have to do a root canal, that means even more ongoing pain for a few days (but at least with some high-octane medication to dull it a bit). I think the real problem is that there’s an infection, but that should subside with antibiotics.

Arrgh. It’s my own fault, I haven’t gone for a cleaning in over a year!

He won’t do a RC without the infection taken care of first. I’ve had a couple of RC’s and there was little pain after (the nerve was gone). Toothache drops might dull the pain for a bit.

Do take care of yourself first. We can be very
patient and we will wait until all is well
    with you.

Nobody can successfuly blog while wracked with
    deep pain.

Rest and let the kittehs and dog console you.

    “We can be very patient”

    We can?

Heh, take care, JJ. I should probably go for a cleaning too, but its so damn expensive…

Good luck JJ. If the pain gets out of control you could always go to the ER and get some pain relief. Toradol is your friend.

I remember what that’s like, maybe not the same thing exactly but if a tooth wants to ahce, it’ll sure as hell ahce.

I hope you get it fixed, those dentists can be quite expensive too, so lets hope the tooth is the more painful thing.

Thanks everyone, I’m alive and well and ultra-medicated! The dentist fixed the immediate problem: the infection is subsiding and I return next week for some followup work. (I was afraid to ask what that might be.)

I can’t eat anything but ice cream, what a drag!

Wait. What?
