What happened to the CBAs?

Aren’t the Canadian Blog Awards around Dec.1?  What happened, are they still a happening thing? or what?  Huh?  If there was any excitement, I missed it (not totally surprising).

It says at the link that there’s a *short delay in voting*…?     ???

eh. It seems like the boy-os were distracted by more important events in their lives.

    😉

We’ve been having some problems in regards to 2 specialized polls that we were hoping to receive last Sunday. We were hoping to start everything at the same time, but since we still don’t have the polls, we are releasing everything else, and changing the schedule to account for the delay.

    Who the fuck cares?

Not that I fault you, JJ, for poking. 😉

  4. 4 JJ Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 5:14 pm

So what does that mean? Is it not happening? Err… Hm?

  5. 5 Shade Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 5:27 pm

I think it means JJ that it’ll be a little late this year. Don’t quote me on that, just going by what BC said.

  6. 6 JJ Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 6:04 pm

    Thank you, Shade 😉

I don’t remember nominating anyone 😯 but I could be wrong. Shit.

It means that every category except for the large Overall and Personal categories, which require special customization, have been opened up for voting today. When those categories are ready, they will be posted ASAP.

Because of the delay, the first round is extended until December 12th.

So who are the nominees? Am I missing something? I like to think I can follow links, but I must be missing something.

  9. 9 Bruce Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Finally found the nominees. I’m not on there at all this year, must be doing something right.

The problem with the new procedure is that they’ve stripped the Awards of any excitement at all.

  11. 11 deBeauxOs Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 6:28 am

Excitement? Isn’t DodoCanSepll nominated in several categories? If she wins, won’t that be a crowning achievement for the CBA?

NBDipper – Okay, I went and voted — where I could — but wow. I didn’t recognize most of the blogs, so I voted for the ones I did recognize.

I guess it’s my own fault for not following what was going on with this thing. C’est la vie.

dodo was in almost every category 😯

Wasn’t it last year that We Move To Canada came in from nowhere and swept up several awards and other bloggers
said there was some intrigue going on?

I can’t remember all the back story about We Move . . .
but maybe it’s an underpinning reason for this year’s
    situation.

Torontonian – Freepage. I sort of lost my enthusiasm for these things because there’s so much of it, but anywhere you can register a vote, you’ll find people cheating. Even posts on Progressive Bloggers get freeped.

WMTC. Intrigue. 1st Fword Awards. That’s all I’m allowed to say.

  16. 16 pale Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10:48 am

Yanno. It is a good possibility that right wing twits that win mostly anyway due to freeping. So.
Lumping it all together into one political category is a masterstroke of their wingnut buddies.

Makes Canada look bad, like we all share those “values”.

    Thanks CBA’s!

Misogyny and hate are pushed to the forefront as core Canadian values just to the average person wandering by. Embarrassing really. Framing and perception. It is what the RW corp media does every day.

Canada’s best political blog! Bigotry and ignorance? We shall see.

  17. 17 JJ Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:04 am

Pale – Possibility? Of course SDA will win Best Blog, that’s not even in question. It’s a given that SDA will win whatever category it’s in. I’m surprised they don’t just dispense with the Best Blog category and just award it to SDA, then let all the other blogs compete for “second best blog”.

That said, it is Kate’s readers voting for her, so it can’t be said that she is completely undeserving of the award, with that kind of popularity. (And SDA is good at what it does.)

And that’s basically how I look at these awards thingies, as a popularity/traffic contest. It doesn’t have all that much to do with quality.

  18. 18 JJ Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:06 am

Dr.Prole – No surprise. Everyone cheats. All the time. Regardless of political stripe.

    Yes, I’m in a MOOD 👿

  19. 19 pale Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:31 am

Well, you and I look at the CBA’s and know what has gone on and what a flustercluck it all is.

Average internet reader? Not so much. And that is just it.

KKKate is good at spreading hate and manure. She is the queen of crap, undisputed. LOL.

  20. 20 JJ Friday, December 4, 2009 at 12:51 pm

pale – Well, exactly. What SDA does, it does it well. Not saying that what it does has any particular redeeming value.

Wait. What?
