Quote of the Day

From the overflowing cesspools of senselessness that pass for “conservative” “thought” these days:

I’d “shorter” it, but I’m too busy puking.  Maybe someone else can do the “shorter”.

UPDATE: More compassionate “conservatism”.

Awww. You cut off the “comments section before you got to “INP”, an especially nasty piece of shit, who commented:

“Lets just let all Haitains switch places with all the Jews in Israel. Within a generation, Israel would be a barren, AIDS infected, human garbage dump and Haiti would be the most vibrant, wealthy, prosperous country in the West Indies. Why is Africa a despicable, horrific, cesspool of genocidal massacres, AIDS, rape and bastard children? Because its full of Africans.”

Maybe Wendy Sullivan will explain herself next time
    she’s on Coren’s wank-fest on CTS TV.

I wonder if she tells all these things at confessional.
Somehow I think not; she’s too elevated and self-righteous
just like Coren. Such folk don’t “do” confessions.

balb – Ugh. Wingnut ugliness, writ large. Like the dire straits of Haiti have nothing to do with geopolitical manipulations beyond their control — Haitians are just inferior by nature 👿

I honestly don’t get this “blame the victim” mentality — speaking of inferior, there is something radically wrong with these people. What kind of defective human being could imagine the Haitian peoples’ desperate straits and not feel compelled to help?

Most days I can just laugh at people like “INP”, but some days I can literally feel the vomit rising.

Torontonian – Does Coren still have her on his show? Good grief.

The last time I saw her on his show, sometime last year, he was trying to shut her up because she wasn’t making any sense. IIRC, he even threatened that she wouldn’t be invited on the show again if she didn’t settle down 😆

Both her sites have disappeared in the last day. I was especially sorry to see “Girl on the Write” go – that’s the one where she provided advice to young bloggers on how to get rich freelancing, like her.

balb – There’s something really wrong with that chick. Does she have mental problems or something?

    Err…you’re kidding, right?

  8. 8 JJ Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 7:13 pm

Well, I’m half kidding I guess… it seems obvious that something’s not right with her.

I don’t know that much about her — the only time I ever read her blog is when you point out something weird and disgusting that she’s said. But I read back a little bit today and it looks like she’s having some kind of nervous breakdown or something?

She published a number of articles last year about how much she hated Canada, and was going to be leaving for the States to join some friends in Kansas on a farm.

There followed a series of odd posts from Kansas about how much she loved being among normal, sane folks who liked collecting semi automatic firearms and had an indoor arsenal shooting range, and how much she was enjoying farm life. There was a slightly self-mocking city-slicker in the wilds tone to it all that I initially thought was just a writer’s voice. But it didn’t go away, and a note of real discordance crept in. And then she was suddenly gone, on the road, heading to another friend’s place on the road, no more mention of Kansas. And then she started to blog about running out of money for her anti depressants and antipsychotics, culminating in a flat out, scarily affect-less post about desperately needing folks to send her money for medication.

She returned to Canada and free medication just in time to start counselling Americans about the evils of socialized health care (which is about when my amusement turned to contempt). She seemed to have a couple of breakdowns, got less and less coherent, and finally handed over the blog to a very boring ideologue who can’t write. There were a couple of final posts of surpassing weirdness, and then silence.

😯 Now I wish I’d been following her story a little closer.

I remember her moving to the states, but I didn’t know she moved to a FARM 😆 in KANSAS, ha. She strikes me as someone quite enamoured with the trappings of urban living — expensive shoes, purses etc — somehow I can’t see her coping well with country life. It sounds like she moved in with a bunch of real yahoos. Did they give her the boot or did she just decide she couldn’t take any more country life? I guess she figured if it didn’t work out she could just click her ruby slippers together and chant “There’s no place like home…”

I also remember the medication crisis that precipitated her return to Canada (glad we could help, you’re welcome RG). And also the way she crapped on the same system that saved her fat ass. This is when I stopped having any sympathy for her.

I wonder what happened to her blogs (now I want to go and read about her stint down on the farm). She can’t have deleted them 😯 she must be doing maintenance or something.

I think perhaps she has dropped them; if I were her psychiatrist, or even a friend, that’s what I would have advised.

She was mentally ill. She would talk about having been raped by a Muslim, about her life in the sex trade, about childhood abuse, about panicking when she saw Monte Solberg with a group of Somali businessmen (she suddenly saw them as eye-rolling, machete wielding killers), about Indian fathers fucking their daughters, about a crazy she saw in the Toronto Subway who she feared was a terrorist…there was no way to tell what was real and what wasn’t. A couple of times, when she was caught in what was clearly fantasy, she retreated and called it a joke. But it was never very funny coming out.

Her readers and her right wing “friends” all applauded this as edgy blogging that her critics just didn’t get; her delusions lined up neatly with their obsessions. All I could see was a seriously messed up woman, desperate for attention and approval, getting applauded for all the fear and the fantasies that characterized her illness.

With apologies to Elton John, “The Bitch is Back”…pimping an appearance by “Five Feet of Feces”…the perfect pair…

balb – 😯 I remember some of that. Wow. This person definitely has problems… big ones…

I can’t believe she’d dump her blog — there’s a lot of material in it… more likely she’s taking a break. And that might be good for her, you know? To get her head together, reflect a bit, get a job, straighten out. Take care of the little things and the big things start taking care of themselves. Or one hopes.

SQ – Oh well, there you go. She’s taking a break — I think that’s probably good for her.

Wait. What?
