“1/23” rallies: well done, CAPPers

You know you’ve accomplished something when even some of the denizens of Free Dominion are impressed:

That second remark was from FD administrator Connie Fournier, who went to the Ottawa rally and was surprised to find it attended not by a roiling, incoherent mass of deranged Marxistislamolibtardfascists, but by “a bunch of normal looking Canadians”.  Who knew??

The opinions cited above aren’t typical of FD by any means —  they’re just the reactions of two people who actually attended rallies and know what they’re talking about.  Those who disagreed invariably hadn’t seen the rallies first-hand.

When you consider these rallies took place in something like 50 cities and towns coast-to-coast, well, nice work!

We are all teabaggers latte-lappers now.

    Good morrow, all!
Harpoon is counting on the blue-rinse crowd, you know, the little old ladies who just adore his bilious smile.
Neville Chamberlain once complained that Parliament got in his way of getting anything done. After all, he had negotiated “Peace In Our Time”, had he not? And the rest, as they say is…
Mulroney had to load up the Senate with Tory hacks to get his GST passed into law. Harpoon needs to do the same with his pet legislation. I guess he’s counting on our…our…oh, look, kittehs on Cheezburger!…um, where was I? oh…yeah…short attention span.
Perhaps someone could simply dump a good-sized load of what comes out of the back-end of a cow on his Calgary doorstep, you know, just in case he figures he might run out anytime soon.
Get back to work, you bum! – CTZen

Who would have guessed that Harper would become the great unifier of “normal Canadians”, and the rest of us, Marxistislamoleftardfeminazis that we are.

I think most Canadians hold Marxistislamoleftardfeminazis values but just don’t like to be described that way. I also think JJ is onto something with the late-lappers. This backlash could be the opportunity to get Canadians involved politically again, much like the teabagger movement has done in the USA. Hopefully the late-lappers are more reality oriented that the teabaggers though.

    Good morrowm all!
Well, better latte than never, I suppose.
Only in Canada, you say? *spit take* No bloody wonder! – CTZen

    I like your styling of it, JJ. 1, 2, 3. Easy-peasy.

I mentioned before that I didn’t like some of the CAPP language. It was straying close to teabagger-land. I’m glad to say that the signs and the speeches at the rallies I’ve read about went nowhere near there.

Well, except for this attempt at agent-provocateury stuff.

It was great fun and something to build on.

    CTZen – Yes, good morrow!
Actually there was an anti-prorogation thing at his Calgary office yesterday, a few hundred people showed up. I don’t know if they brought a cow, though.

deBeauxOs – Stranger than fiction, eh? But why not — it’s an issue that should cross ideological lines, unless you’re a super-partisan tory.

Bleatmop – It’s an interesting development because liberals (and Liberals, and NDPers for that matter) seem to have been in a real funk since Harper got in power, not even trying anymore. This might get them in gear again.

fern hill – Yeah, you remember the big teabaggers march that they called the “912” march? It seemed to me that the date “1/23” would be a good identifier too, the “123 rallies”. I don’t know if the date was chosen with that in mind, but it works.

I saw the Hitler stuff at Dr.Dawg’s — I’m not sure what to think until there’s more info. There are assholes on every side of the spectrum. (That said, it doesn’t look good for the local conservatives if it was them.)

I’ve just had a thought about this topic.

Michaëlle Jean – Worst GG ever, or Worstiest GG ever? What I would give for a constitutional crisis right now.

Wait. What?
