No joy in Freeperville

Freepers are trying hard to keep the faith in their ACORN-smashing hero who now stands accused of a federal crime, and who could blame them?  Not only does this recent event put them on the side of a sleazy criminal douchebag, it also undermines the douchebag’s previous “work” on the celebrated “ACORN sting“, already compromised by a pending lawsuit.

But clearly the grieving process has begun:

It’s Obama’s fault.

And those libtardhomoislamofascistcommies at the FBI

And the Liberal Media

There’s no way of linking O’Keefe to the GOP:

There’s a strange and ominous juxtaposition in all of this.  How is it that the same people who go into paroxysms of unforgiving outrage when a gullible ACORN worker gets scammed into saying things that look bad (but not illegal) on heavily-edited video, are so eager to forgive and forget when one of their own is caught willfully committing a felony?    Conventional wisdom suggests it would take either mental illness or heavy drugs to live with such contradictions.

Just to be mean-spirited about the whole thing and given that the GOP will distance itself from the ‘misguided whacky utes’…

…I don’t suppose the Flanagan involved is related to our own dear Calgary School American neocon Tom Flanagan in Calgary? The guy the Conservatives publically proclaim they don’t know exists after his comments on why Harper prorogued, despite him being the go-to guy every major announcement as Harper’s former campaign manager?

That would be too much to ask I suppose.

I think this is due to how the GOP base is increasingly made up of people with the Right-Wing Authoritarianism personality trait. Amongst other features, while they are extremely moralistic, they are also incredibly forgiving of people in their own ingroup. Since O’Keefe is in the ingroup, he gets a free pass.

The right-wing’s poster boy is looking at ten years hard time, I hope he sings like a canary and brings down a few GOPers.

Phatbiker – Have you seen a picture of the little nerd? 😆 That guy’s gonna do hard time however long it is.

Rob F – Oh, they’re bigtime authoritarians. But even so, it’s not that weird that they’re so forgiving when one of their own fucks up. They forgive any kind of behaviour because they think it’s a means to an end, screwing over “the enemy”, who in their view is even worse.

Niles – If only. I think I’ll check into it though… hah!

I think everybody gives O’Keefe waaaay too much credit for the ACORN sting.

The boy is clearly a Sacha Baron Cohen wannabee. He engineered a stupid Punk’d gig that he showed around. Someone – not saying Karl Rove but, hey! someone aspiring to his crown – sees how it could be leveraged for political gain against the Democrats and Obama. So O’Keefe went out and did the prank more 2 times, the tapes were sweetened and edited. Voilà! Mr Bigtime political operative.

Then he goes into Mary Landrieu’s office with his frat boy buddies without doing any research about exactly what kind of heavy duty stuff he is dealing with? Amateur. No, worse than that, he’s some sort of idjit non-savant.

Oh, and the major tip-off is the costume he cobbled together to play the role of a pimp – a grey sheared lamb jacket heisted from his great-grandmother’s closet?

I’ll bet real pimps pissed themselves when they saw his get-up. Or massively pissed-off.

Mediamatters has a new video out where O’Keefe said he was willing to go to jail for his work

Lets see if that holds up.

But then again, this is America. Noone even remotely famous goes to jail there. Though I guess if his current celebrity isn’t enough, he could always release a sex tape and then he’d be a lock to stay out of prison just like Hilton.

Wait. What?
