GLBTs — a footnote in Jason Kenney’s revised Citizenship Guide

Bigotry over easy with a side of creepy:  it’s what’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Jason Kenney’s House of Hate.

By now everyone knows how Kenney, the Immigration Minister, purposely had references to GLBT rights removed from a Citizenship Guide:

Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney blocked any reference to gay rights in a new study guide for immigrants applying for Canadian citizenship, The Canadian Press has learned.  […]

But Mr. Kenney, who fought same-sex marriage when it was debated in Parliament, ordered those key sections removed when his office sent its comments to the department last June.

I’d expect nothing less from this greasy little pig.  But what really got me was his squirming when someone first caught the play and called him on it:

The publication does include a picture of Olympic gold medal swimmer Mark Tewksbury, however, with a caption saying he is a “prominent activist for gay and lesbian Canadians.”  […]

When the new guide was released Nov. 12, Mr. Kenney brushed off a reporter’s question about why it lacked any reference to same-sex marriage.

“We can’t mention every legal decision, every policy of the government of Canada,” he said.

“We try to be inclusive and include a summary. I can tell you that if you were to read the old book, you wouldn’t even know that there are gay and lesbian Canadians.” He then noted the caption under Mr. Tewksbury’s photo.

Oh, well then.  Anything more would be “Special Rights”, am I right?  (Or just special?)

Special alright – but not in the same way that The Unfuckable Jason Kenney is special.

deBeauxOs, you beat me to it 🙂

Kenney travelled around the world and followed Paul Martin on his tour and shouted out questions about same-sex marriage and
    gay rights at press conferences.

This was a great embarrassment to Martin and his world tour and it must have been a real low point for Kenney’s party in terms of strategy.

Kenney is one more of the reprehensible conservatives who have to be displaced at the next election.

Kenney is one of the few to make my blood nearly boil.

He’s an ardent Roman Catholic and I don’t think Catholics are supposed to debase and degrade by shaming other persons.

Oh, I forgot, Kenney is from Calgary. Bishop Fred Henry is also from Calgary. That explains it then.

Jason Kenney also played a prominant role with the Reform party in 1998, asking the RCMP to investigate the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. He-they claimed that the genetic termination unit was committing infanticide. They weren’t, but it caused an enormous amount of stress to the families involved who had to relive these tragic events in their lives. Unforgivable.

Jason Kenney should be the focus of the attacks on the conservative side. Sure, the LPC and NDP may lose their social conservative voters (like they had any to begin with) but they just might win the larger center where people who are disgusted by Kenney lie.

In 1992, Mark Tewkesbury won his Olympic medals.
In that same year, Kenney was working for the
Taxpayers’ Federation. Such work is not a
real job except to go and speak once in a while
to Rotarians or others like the Kiwanis Club
    luncheons.

From that day to this, Kenney has never really
had to earn a real paycheque in the real dog-eat-
dog world of business. He still is only an MP
with a fat pension plan most Canadians would
    die for.

Tewkesbury has been more than achiever in sports.
He has hosted a television series and is a
    highly sought after motivational speaker–
    among other things.

One of the two talks and gets fatter by the day.

The other is lean and hungry and successful.

A case of contrasts, n’est-ce pas?

Torontonian – Definitely another good study in contrasts.

Funny how many of these guys (Harper’s gang) are career bureaucrats… for people who claim to hate government, they sure spend a lot of time at the trough.

Bleatmop – The LPC has more than its fair share of social conservatives. “Big Tent” 🙄

Calgal – Wow. I had forgotten about that story until now. Disgusting.

    Good morrow, all!
    “Gimme more flags!”
To paraphrase George Carlin: Ever notice that the people who are opposed to abortion, or to gay rights, are people you wouldn’t wanna fuck in the first place?
