I’ve stopped counting

Is anyone still keeping track of the Catholic church’s incredible expanding Cornucopia of Excuses for the child abuse scandals and the institutional coverups of same?   For those still counting, here’s another one for you:

A prominent Roman Catholic bishop in Mexico blamed eroticism on television and Internet pornography for child abuse by priests, in the latest incendiary comments on sex scandals in the church.

“With so much invasion of eroticism, sometimes it’s not easy to stay celibate or to respect children,” Bishop Felipe Arizmendi said during an annual meeting of Mexican bishops near Mexico City on Thursday.

Doesn’t explain why they can’t bring themselves to fuck adults like the rest of us “victims of television” seem to manage.

I hope that’s a bad translation. ‘It’s not easy to respect children.’ WTF??? You don’t have to respect them, just keep your paws off them.

Hey – don’t forget homosexuality …. according to the Pope’s spokesman (not a chance it would be a spokesperson) “dem damn homos are behind it all.” (If it is not the Christ hating Jews!)

There’a tongue-in-cheek slide show at Salon that displays most of the lame excuse, evasive tactic and blaming-others dodge that the Vatican Taliban has used in the last while.

    Here:

Weird, here I am in the sexually inundated secular world with all the porn and Britney Spears and hot young undulating pelvises every which way you look in the media, and I’m the one in a committed monogamous marriage with another adult. Notice the distinct lack of “raping children” in my perverted heathen life.

Anything but accountability from the Catholics. Everything but the truth. I’m just watching Bill Mahar and his guest Jesse Ventura was asking why the Catholic church hasn’t been drummed up with the Rico laws in the US. It’s an organization that has conspired to commit and cover up felonies, apparently exactly what the Rico laws were made to fight.

They have all kinds of excuses for that, and they are getting weirder by the day. Pacheco even invented a new word: heteromosexual 😯 which still doesn’t address the kiddie diddling. The catholic church’s apologists are really trying to push this whole thing on gays, in spite of the fact that being gay means normal relationships between consenting adults.

    Really 😯

That’s the most bizarre thing I’ve seen all day.

Certainly not — this is just one more in their ever-growing list of lame excuses, none of which address pedophilia or the church’s systemic cover up policies.

deBeauxOs – Thanks for the link. Here they are being idiots yet again.

Seriously — or even considering it. It’s definitely not one of those things that springs to my mind — EVER 😯

    😆 Good old Bill! 😆

Good luck with that, though — most of SCOTUS is Catholic, and 4 of them are conservative catholics.

The Vatican does this despite the fact that 70% of MEN who molest BOYS consider themselves heterosexual and another 9% consider themselves bi-sexuals. Only 8% of MEN who molest BOYS actually consider themselves homosexuals.

From: Child Molestation Prevention Study (PDF) Page 2 #11

They molest boys because they are easy targets.

What’s interesting about the study I linked to above is that most of these priests who molest were molested themselves and probably started molesting when they were children. This should have been screened out when interviewed to become a priest.

Wait. What?
