Geometry taught the Alabama way

An Alabama teacher has been questioned by the Secret Service after using the hypothetical assassination of President Barack Obama as a way to teach angles to his geometry students, The Birmingham News reports […]

Officials said the Jefferson County geometry teacher was apparently teaching students about parallel lines and angles and used the example of where to stand and aim if shooting Obama.

“He was talking about angles and said, ‘If you’re in this building, you would need to take this angle to shoot the president,’ ” said Joseph Brown, a senior in the geometry.

The paper says it could not reach the unidentified Corner High School teacher for comment.

No kidding — maybe try contacting the local psych ward?

I’m not that serious about the “teabagger” reference — nobody knows if this demented bozo is or ever has been a member of Teabagger Nation.  And even if he is, he’s an exceptionally stupid and vicious example of one.

But still, um, wow.

At times, it takes a lot to manage to see something from someone else’s perspective…  Then there are those times when it’s just flat impossible — like this case.   I mean: What on earth?!?

I am sure there were less assassiny exmaples the teacher could have used. What about pool? That game has a lot of geometry and it doesn’t involve shooting people.

I feel so sorry for my other half growing up in Alabama of all places. Still he turned out great… some how.

Oh, and get this, JJ. He’s not going to face any disciplinary action from the school district for giving voice to his Obama assassination masturbatory fantasies. He’s just going to get a stern talking to. Apparently, you can openly fantasize about offing a Democratic president in Alabama, but don’t you dare speak favorably about evolution.

As I mention on my blog, this joke of a teacher would fit in well on our State Board of Indoctrination.

    Just W.O.W.

I wonder how well this would have gone over a few years ago if he had used GWB as the example instead of Obama. Somehow I doubt it would be treated as lightly as it appears to be in this case. How anyone can sanction using a hypothetical example of assassinating the sitting President to teach geometry (which is teaching the proper sight lines to kill with after all) when there are so many other ways to do so like as already pointed out using the game of pool is something I cannot wrap my head around. There is something seriously wrong with this teacher and everyone that does not see it as a firing offence on grounds of public safety and for using the teacher’s position to advance a political agenda (because seriously how else can one see this but as a way for this teacher to expound his dislike of Obama, he if he really felt using a Presidential assassination attempt was necessary to get his students attention/focus could just have easily used the assassination attempt on Reagan and why it failed to teach the same lesson but noooo, that is not what he did) in an inappropriate manner and environment.

    Sick, really sick.

Wait. What?
