Karma’s a cold-hearted bitch on wheels

Marianne Gingrich, aka Mrs. Newt Gingrich II, is warped, bitter, twisted and trash-talking at top speed as if the world doesn’t already know what Vile Scum with Snail Slime on Top her ex really is:

Marianne Gingrich said she first heard from the former speaker about the divorce request as she was waiting in the home of her mother on May 11, 1999, her mother’s 84th birthday. Over the phone, as she was having dinner with her mother, Newt Gingrich said, “I want a divorce.”

Ah, but like 5pm, it’s always someone’s mother’s birthday somewhere, and it’s as good a time as any to drink a beer or dump a spouse.  Certainly a better time than, say… oh, never mind.

Newt himself was unimpressed:

Facing continued scrutiny of his personal life, Newt Gingrich on Thursday called an interview by his ex-wife Marianne Gingrich “tawdry and inappropriate,” and refused to answer any questions about it.

And why not?  If anyone knows Tawdry and Inappropriate, it’s the Newtster.  I’d take his word on Cheap and Sleazy as well.

And so the world turns — my stomach, at times — and new nadirs of dumbness continue to be scraped from the bottom of the GOP Primary barrel.  What’s so endlessly amusing about Marianne G’s burst of self-righteous fury and indignant rage is that, speaking of Bad Timing, wasn’t she the one who played Hide-The-Sausage with the philandering, out of control Newtster while his first wife was battling cancer?  And presumably gave two enthusiastic thumbs up to the idea of dumping Mrs. Newt the First while she was preoccupied with that cancer thing, maybe rationalizing it the same way Newt did:

“She’s not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of the President. And besides, she has cancer.”

I wonder which was the dealbreaker, the not-pretty-enough or the cancer?

It’s one of Life’s most basic lessons, and just one of the many reasons why you never, ever, ever screw around with someone else’s husband, especially one as completely and utterly morally bankrupt as Newt: apart from it just being Wrong, you have to know that if he’ll do it to her, he’ll do it to you.  And you can take that to the bank along with your alimony cheque.

    *shudder*

What the hell is going on in that race? Seriously, what is this, try as hard as possible to make yourself look like such an unrepentant asshole that your opponents somehow end up looking good by comparison? The GOP is many things, but some kind of uber Byzantine Machiavellian chessmaster, carefully pitting its candidates against each other in an clusterfuck of a race to the bottom to extract some kind of tangential political gain?

On the plus side, watching this epic battle to become the lowest common denominator is perversely entertaining. Reminds me a bit of watching scrambled porn, in the days before the internet. You know there’s smut behind the noise, and occasionally you get a glimpse of it, and you know how much of a guilty pleasure this is, but you just can’t stop.

Did ya see the first question of the “debate” last night. A standing ovation for Newty. All because he won’t answer questions about his personal life.

So, GOPers, clap for killing folks and adultery.

Ohohoh! I almost forgot. It is also the “libral” media’s fault!

JJ, that Scheer column from 1994 … wow. Just … wow.

The way things are going now in the US, I predict that proof a candidate is a five-star asshole will soon be required for all those seeking public office under the Republican banner. And the Democrats will quickly follow suit, if the public supports Gingrich and his ilk.

“Perversely entertaining” 😆 It’s so horrible — in a perversely entertaining way — that I can’t look away.

There are a lot of rational conservatives out there — what on earth do they think about all this, I wonder. I suppose they’re shrugging their shoulders and looking to 2016.

I didn’t watch the debate. As much of an entertaining train wreck as this thing is turning out to be, I’m on GOP debate overload.

I should start watching them again, it seems like something outrageous (like the family values crowd clapping for adultery) almost always happens.

These losers (excpet Ron Paul) are so out to lunch, they could make a Dubya-Palin team look good!

Leaving out Ron Paul, we’ve got the former Governor of Massachusetts, who may or may not wear special magic underware. We’ve got Mr. my ex-wife wasn’t pretty, had cancer, and this was reason enough for me to toss her to curb. And we’ve got Rick “Frothy discharge” Santorum.

These characters are enough to make me wanna change species. And gender. And planet.

And Obama is deeply unpopular in many parts of the states? True, Dubya had 9-11 to help boost his approval ratings, but Obama took out bin Laden and his approval ratings barely budged?

If Ron Paul doesn’t win the nomination, I have to wonder why the GOP doesn’t just let Obama run unopposed, and save everybody the time trouble and hassel. And embarassment. Mostly, save us all the embarassment.

You know, it occurs to me, that as much of a gong-show as the thing has turned into, at least the Americans actually bother to HAVE a few debates. I think that even a weapons-grade clusterfuck of fail like this is actually better than the pitiful four hours that the consortium devotes to our debates.

I know. It’s almost frightening that someone so totally devoid of compassion could come so close to being the “Leader of the Free World”. I doubt he’ll even win the nomination, there are too many flip-flops in his past. And now the fundies are getting behind Santorum (so to speak), so it looks like a Romney coronation is imminent.

I’m sure the Obama administration would be happy to go up against any of these candidates, though…

I think it would be most interesting to see Ron Paul win the nomination. I don’t know if he’d actually have a chance but his support base is the most committed I’ve ever seen, even more so than Obama’s in 2008.

Imagine the debates. A guy who asks the Bernank if he thinks gold is money (knowing that BB would probably say No) is a guy who would seriously rattle some cages. I don’t know if he could win, but it would be fun to watch the process play out.

Newt = poster boy for morally bankrupt

  12. 12 fhg1893 Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Yeah, I’m not sure he could win either. I just think he’s got the best shot, though he’s probably not as good in debate as he used to be, his showing in S. Carolina wasn’t very good. And, as you know, I’m of the opinion that the US badly needs him. I think that the democrats will completely destroy any of the other candidates – it’s just too easy. I mean can you picture Obama vs. Rick “gay sex should be illegal,” “frothy discharge” Santorum? Obama would have a field-day picking that guy apart, it’d be just too easy to hand the Republicans their worst defeat ever!

It’d be so much harder I think against Ron Paul. What’s he going to attack? Liberty? Freedom? Good luck with that… But it seems like the GOP will NEVER let the guy onto the ticket…

And now Gingrich has won the S. Carolina primary, and by a comfortable margin too?

Here comes four more years of hopey changey stuff that looks more and more like same-old, same-old every passing day. Seems like tough times ahead for North America.

Wait. What?
