“We do not torture.”

bush-tortureErr, well, except maybe sometimes.

Dick Cheney finally fessed up to committing a war crime authorizing torture at the infamous terrorist recruiting propaganda tool, Guantanamo Bay:

Monday, outgoing Vice President Dick Cheney made a startling statement on a nation-wide, televised broadcast.

When asked by ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl whether he approved of interrogation tactics used against a so-called “high value prisoner” at the controversial Guantanamo Bay prison, Mr. Cheney, in a break from his history of being press-shy, admitted to giving official sanctioning of torture.

“I supported it,” he said regarding the practice known as “water-boarding,” a form of simulated drowning. After World War II, Japanese soldiers were tried and convicted of war crimes in US courts for water-boarding, a practice which the outgoing Bush administration attempted to enshrine in policy.  (emphasis mine)

And why not?  Cheney can admit to anything now, and expect zero consequences.

Cheney also appeared by phone on the Rush Limbaugh show yesterday, where Rush put him on the Hot Seat with such tough questions as “What are you most proud of?”  Way to fire those hardballs, El-Rushbo, you fat sack of pigshit.

Shorter Dick Vader: “Yeah, I did it. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat! What’re you gonna do, ship me to The Hague?”

“It’s not a crime if the president does it” Richard Nixon. Typical rethug attitude that has not changed in thirty years.

The libertarian far left Rawstory titles this article:
    Cheney admits authorizing detainee’s torture

Then writes “…[Cheney] admitted to giving official sanctioning of torture.”

However when you read all 4 pages from their link to ABC, SURPRISE, Cheney said no such thing.

Yet another example from the “reality-based community.” 🙂

No secret that the US did not join (and probably never will) the ICC

    Thugs!

Actually, Phat, it goes even further than that. The phrase today’s GOP operates under is “When a Republican President does it, that means that it is not illegal.” We all know what would happen if a Democratic President were to try it…

    Ptonoob:

Cheney’s comments also mark the first time that he has acknowledged playing a central role in clearing the CIA’s use of an array of controversial interrogation tactics, including a simulated drowning method known as waterboarding.

“I was aware of the program, certainly, and involved in helping get the process cleared,” Cheney said in an interview with ABC News.

Asked whether he still believes it was appropriate to use the waterboarding method on terrorism suspects, Cheney said: “I do.”

Prole, best to just set the troll alarm to either snooze or ignore. 😉

“Oh, ptroll, you won’t see him again.” (Think Clemenza in the Godfather.)
