No difference at all

We all know how anti-choicers twist the truth to promote their agenda, but occasionally they come up with propaganda of such brain-damaged magnitude that it stands alone in its douchebaggery.  Such was the case with something posted yesterday at Jill Stanek’s fetusblog, where they’ve gone into a full-metal pearl-clutching frenzy over a story headlined:Jill Stanek - Abortionist killed- national news; Abortionist kills woman- ignored_1245218952249

Well, that alone is enough to start a stampede for the fainting couch.  A killer abortionist, and no coverage!  So Unfair and pro-abortionally biased, because after all, the circumstances between this woman’s tragic death and Dr. Tiller’s assassination are exactly the same.  Except that they’re not.

Dr. Tiller was stalked, harassed and shot dead in cold blood in a pre-meditated murder by an anti-abortion lunatic.  The woman in Stanek’s story died because her doctor was negligent, improperly (and one would strongly suspect, inadvertently) administering  the wrong kind of anaesthetic… before the procedure even got started.  That’s right, this story is about anaesthetic, and only tangentially-related to abortion.

As always, in order to cut through the bullshit you have to read right to the bottom of the article to find that:

The District Attorney found the abortionist’s conduct to be “willful, wanton, and reckless” because he sedated Laura with level three drugs without any means of cardiac monitoring or blood pressure cuff; had no assistant who could administer sedation, monitor the patient, or assist in resuscitating her; and, “failed to timely initiate a call to 911.” The board also alleged that the abortionist made false statements.

Tragic story?  Definitely.  Asshole doctor?  For sure.  Death by abortion?  Nope.  Pre-meditated, cold-blooded, sensational murder?  Please.

With fetus fetishists and their “stories”, it’s a good rule of thumb to start off with the assumption that they’re lying, or at least stretching the truth beyond all known parameters, and work your way up from there.

The woman in Stanek’s story died because her doctor was negligent, improperly (and one would strongly suspect, inadvertently) administering the wrong kind of anaesthetic… before the procedure even got started. That’s right, this story is about anaesthetic, and only tangentially-related to abortion.

In some past work for Health Canada IRID (Infectious Diseases and Immunization) this kind of adverse reaction and medical mistake is common. Hell we saw pictures of Morphine bottles that looked like Saline. Stuff like that.

Why didn’t Stanek or the media report about the guy who dies accidentally from the same cause when getting his appendix out?

Yeah, because there is moral equivalence between a planned premeditated murder of a doctor and political opponent and the accidental or even negligent death of a woman during a medical procedure.

    Gawd these people are dishonest.

Somehow, this comment of mine made it through SUZANNE’s anti-librul hermetic seal:

The anesthesia killed her, not the abortion.

Woman dies from improperly administered anesthesia during an abortion: Socons hit the ceiling with apoplexy.

Woman dies from improperly administered anesthesia during an appendectomy: Silence.

Typical of the “Theocracy NOW!” crowd.

Who wants to lay odds that it’ll be purged by nightfall?

    Blogged. I just ‘blogged’ that.

    Sheesh.

But I did intend ‘gord’. 😉

Well to be scrupulously fair, they could be fake death threats that the recipient doesn’t know are fake. But in that case you can’t claim, as they are, to know exactly who sent them.

But you know what happens when you receive death threats that can be traced to an individual? They get arrested. Or at least exposed. Recently Warren Kinsella received some threats of violence. He posted the IP and within a couple of days the person was identified.

Quite a number of women die each year as a result of botched cosmetic surgical procedures. Never hear any shrieeeking around that.

Surely the fetus fetishists could build an argument in support of some sort of equivalency?

For example SUZIE ALL-CAPS and her logic-challenged buddies could say:

unwanted body fat = unintended zygote

murderous mercenary cosmetic surgeon = “billionaire” abortionist to be executed

Which raises the question about Dr Tiller’s clinic – if the medical services provided generated the millions upon millions the PR0-LIES liars claim, why is the family closing it?

I agree with JJ; this is just anti-choicers twisting the truth. If someone dies due to botched anesthesia its a tragedy, regardless of whether the anesthesia was for an abortion or an appendectomy; either way, she’s still dead. Thinking otherwise is like holding that it’s more tragic to be run over and killed by a Volkswagon than it is to be run over and killed by a Volvo.

Mike – Dishonesty is the best policy, in the upside-down bizarro world of fetus fetishizing.

This story is such an unbelievable stretch… even if the woman had died to to the doctor screwing up the operation, there’s still no equivalence here. That’s why the doctor got manslaughter, and Scott Roeder will get Murder 1.

But hey — let’s not let the facts get in the way.

JAB – Is your comment up? I haven’t been there lately.

Thanks for the heads up on the Death Threats, boy am I having fun with that! 😆

fern hill – Thanks to you too, for the story about the threats of violence against the fetishists. What a hoot!

  10. 12 JJ Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 7:46 pm

RB – One of the “death threats” is from a snarky post at Jesus’ General 😆 Okay: they’re either liars or cataclysmically stupid. (There’s no “none of the above” option.)

As for the other “threat”, it’s from that same kook who was posting at SUZANNE’s about how we should kill a “right to lifer”. I thought he was a fetus fetishist just trying to spread some agit-prop.

deBeauxOs – Given that these are the same people who see an equivalence in calling someone a cunt and invading a person’s privacy by posting his private information all over the net (and encouraging people to get in touch with his job, friends, family whatever), nothing surprises me any more. False equivalence is how they rationalize their douchebaggery.

  12. 14 JJ Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 7:54 pm

Rob F – Exactly; it has about as much to do with abortion as someone dying from complications after a hysterectomy — the doctor is an ob-gyn in both cases, that’s about where it ends.

Interestingly, abortion is one of the safest procedures there is, when you look at overall mortality rates for various other surgical interventions. Anaesthesia, OTOH, seems to be getting more dangerous. The last time I had surgery, they warned me I might not come out of the OR alive 😯 but the chance still less than my chances of getting killed in a car accident (and way less than my chances of getting killed in a bike accident, which would never stop me from riding one).

Interestingly enough, when an real-life IDENTIFIABLE person makes death threats to someone on what they consider to be “the left,” all of a sudden it’s perfectly all right and the victim should just stop whining about it.

From National Post columnist and former pest around here, Raphael Alexander and his commentators on the threats made to Warren Kinsella:

    http://hallsofmacadamia.blogspot.com/2009/06/kinsella-once-again.html

  14. 16 RealityBites Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 8:43 am

Oops – it’s from “Neo”, not Raphael. I was misled by BCL calling him “Raffy.”

  15. 17 JJ Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 3:54 pm

RB – Whew, I thought for a second there Raphael lost it completely. Notwithstanding his passive-aggressiveness, I can’t see RA spiraling into violence (it’s almost funny to think about). That Neo guy is kind of a character though, eh? 😆

So who exactly got threatened? Kinsella? He might have to take a number and get in line…
