The problem is, the damage Harper is doing both structurally and culturally isn’t going to be over as soon as he is. It’ll be much easier to get rid of him politically than it will be to heal from his legacy. The positives he’s been turning to negatives in this country are too many to list.
Torontonian – I live in Ontario, too. I was thinking of Harris & Co. when I wrote that. I think the damage Harper is doing is significantly worse; that’s how bad.
The global survey, conducted by GFK Roper Public Affairs & Media, involved 20,000 people in 20 rich and developing countries around the globe. They were asked to rate 50 nations in categories such as culture, governance, people, exports, tourism, landscape and education.
How quintessentially Canadian to imagine any more than a tiny fraction of these people would have ever heard of Stephen Harper.
“Canada took the biggest hit in the latest survey, falling to seventh from fourth place”
Thanks Steve, you’re so special.
Is it a case of being happy or relieved?
Think of Bush as being an overstaying party guest who doesn’t know when to leave.
Most people weren’t happy as much as relieved as in
“Thank goodness, that’s over.”
I feel the same way about Harper and the British
did about Blair.

@mouthyorange
I understand what you’re saying. I live in Ontario
and we’re still trying to undo the damage of the
Harris/Eves legacy.

No……But they probably know how Canada is holding up climate change agreements at worldwide summits.
And yes, that comes right on back to Steve’s door. Hell, he doesn’t even bother attending.

And the Tar sands.
And the seal commercial slaughter. The EU has been talking a lot about that.
This is our worldwide image. Which sadly Harper is trouncing like our country.
