Ebert expectorates “Expelled”

pwnedHAHAHAHAHAHA! In response to the whining of creationist nitwit Ben Stein, (who’d rather Roger Ebert didn’t review his movie “Expelled” so he could continue griping about it being “shunned”), last week Ebert finally got around to the sad task of demolishing said movie. “Expelled” is a movie so bad that Rotten Tomatoes describes it as “Full of patronizing, poorly structured arguments, Expelled is a cynical political stunt in the guise of a documentary.” Ebert goes a little further. Just a taste:

This film is cheerfully ignorant, manipulative, slanted, cherry-picks quotations, draws unwarranted conclusions, makes outrageous juxtapositions (Soviet marching troops representing opponents of ID), pussy-foots around religion (not a single identified believer among the ID people), segues between quotes that are not about the same thing, tells bald-faced lies, and makes a completely baseless association between freedom of speech and freedom to teach religion in a university class that is not about religion.

Two thumbs up!!! But someone might want to swing by “Post-Darwinist” and mop up the bits of exploded skull and brain. (Okay, skull and skull.)

Ha ha ha. Expelled belongs in the same rubbish heap as those End Times movies.

Now this, I can get behind:

    Hahahahahaha! Very good, thanks.

Ebert did a great job on this review, he totally destroyed that POS movie. Long column but it made for a good morning coffee read.

I saw that at the video store one Saturday night. They had a few copies, not even one was out…
I was cracking up at the ACDC look Stein adopted for the DVD cover. OY.

pale – “I saw that at the video store one Saturday night. They had a few copies, not even one was out…”

Probably because the movie’s target audience thinks DVDs are some kind of witchcraft or Tool Of Satan.

I saw Expelled for larfs, and man did it deliver. It’s the first time I can remember seeing a documentary Godwin itself out of being taken seriously. It seems like Ben Stein spent two hours in interviews with scientists, and then maybe five minutes looking for archival footage of storm troopers to splice in. And the rest of the time/budget he spent touring a CONCENTRATION CAMP (I shit you not – this happens in the movie) and figuring out how on EARTH to tie that in with evolution! I spent the whole moving unsure whether I should laugh or puke. What an assclown.

pedgehog – The concentration camp sequence is meant to somehow equate evolutionists with Nazis, though I’m not sure how. A lot like how the fetus fetishists use the analogy of abortion and slavery. Huh? Makes no sense to anyone but them.

Nod to the Doughy Pantload, of course. Evolutionist = progressive = liberal = fascist. 😉

    Now it all makes sense…

The image at the header of this page is extremely offensive. I for one do not want to see a dog biting a cat’s head, whether you’re a cat fan or not, the cat is unable to defend itself obviously, not to mention the fact that someone took a picture of this, meaning it was most likely the intended action. I have reported this page as a result, and am requesting that you remove this image due to it being in violation of the Terms of Service on WordPress, and a violation of animal rights. If the image is not removed within 7 days, it will be reported to the appropriate agencies.

You don’t own cats and dogs, do you.

My dog does this to my cat all the time, the dog’s just playing and the cat doesn’t mind it at all.

    In short, fuck off.

Hey. My dog and cat used to play this game, too. My cat used to push his head into the dog’s mouth! They would never have seriously hurt each other. Just like the two in the picture obviously wouldn’t.

The dog and cat in the picture are so obviously not really fighting. Anyone who knows animal behaviour can see that that cat doesn’t have any kind of a defensive posture at all. If it were afraid, it’d either flee or claw at the dog’s eyes. These two are totally into what they’re doing.

  12. 12 JJ Monday, February 15, 2010 at 8:41 am

mouthyorange – Exactly, if the cat was scared its fur would be on end and its claws would be out and flailing at the dog (and probably doing a little damage).

It’s amazing how gentle a dog can be when they want to. Some people don’t understand that dogs aren’t necessarily killing machines 🙄

    For pedgehog.

The film Expelled was given a rave review by
Charles McVety (Dr.), of Canada Christian College.

It’s hard to say which is shallower–McVety’s
intellect or the film. Call it a draw, perhaps?

JJ — “Some people don’t understand that dogs aren’t necessarily killing machines”

Or that cat’s aren’t always helpless victims.

Wait. What?
