Talk about your slippery slope.Β According to a recent Gallup poll, between 2001 and 2009 GOP support has been slip-sliding away in every demographic except (surprise) weekly churchgoers:
That “Culture War” thing is really working out well for them, no?
You’ll note that even among “weekly churchgoers,” there is absolutely no change between 2001 and 2009 – they’re right back where they started. How’d that naked misogyny and homophobia work for ya, wingnuts?
JAB – Yeah, that doesn’t even count as a “win”, it’s just a “same”. Of course, in the bizarro world of the GOP, that might be what passes for a Win these days π
It sure seems to show from the representative talent pool they’ve been dipping into lately.
They’re pretty close to their traditional level of support among black voters.
But as Billy Preston once said,
Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’
You gotta have somethin’ if you wanna be with me
You mean 5%? π
Speaking of which, it was funny to see that right after Katrina, when we’d just barely scratched the surface of Bush’s epic fail, Bush’s support among blacks was 2% — WITHIN THE MARGIN OF ERROR!!! π π π π π π π π
Bruce – That’s not a talent pool, it’s the gene pool and it’s the shallow end π
RB – Their black supporters…? oh yeah, Alan Keyes’ family.
JAB
I think that’s called a King-hell Fail.
Wonder, wonder if that translates into similar figures in Canada? The US has a large group of fundamental “Christian” churches (sorry real Christians) – while Canada is close to of not more than 50% Roman Catholic.
croghan – Canada is much more Catholic than the states (because of Quebec) — about 45% Catholic, and 30% Protestant. The US is the other way around, about 50% protestant and 25% Catholic. (And among protestants they definitely have a lot more fundies than we do.)
