Break out the waterboard

…and start pouring, because here we have a genuine, “24”-worthy “ticking clock” scenario of the kind that conservatives are always using to justify torture: a terrorist who claims to know about more planned terrorist attacks:

The man charged in the shooting death of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller warned Sunday that more violence is possible.

Scott Roeder, being held on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault in Tiller’s killing one week ago, called The Associated Press from the Sedgwick County jail. […]

“I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal,” Roeder said.

He would not elaborate.

Oh yeah? Well, hook his nuts up to a set of jumper cables and crank on the juice, he’ll be elaborating his lungs out.

Of course I’m just kidding — torture is always wrong, even for rotten shit-eating terrorist scum like Roeder. In all likelihood, he’s just enjoying his notoriety and intends to keep yapping to any media that will listen. And I say: let him yap!

But at the same time, the FBI should get cracking on their investigation into Dr. Tiller’s murder. Whiiiirrrr chopchopchop whiiiiir chopchopchop — what’s that sound? Oh, that’s the sound of shredders going full-bore at the offices of Operation Rescue, American Right to Life, and the rest of the anti-choice scum across the country. The rock has been lifted, the cockroaches are scattering.

It’s all yours, anti-choice freaks. Own it. Wear it. Enjoy it.

Most excellent catch there, fern hill.

I’m not catching much the last few days… I’m trying to stay away from it, it’s making me sick. But I couldn’t resist this one!

  2. 3 fern hill Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 12:20 pm

Yes, I read about your heartsickness on another post somewhere here. Rest up and stay strong, JJ. We need your blogging bravura.

Me, I’m sick too, but mostly ENRAGED.

  3. 4 Q Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 12:22 pm

Finally, a terrorist threat that the FBI doesn’t have to create and entrap would-be participants for.

    Q – Heh!

  5. 6 Torontonian Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 12:45 pm

Don’t expect the FBI or other law enforcers to do much.
Most of them seem to be born again and therefore are
loath to do anything to avert other life ending events
particularly of abortion doctors. They enforce the
law according to their consciences and religious
    dogma.

    Two-tier frontier style American justice.

Makes me glad I live here and not there.

    Have you seen TheGeorgeTillerMemorial.com ?
    It’s shocking.

  7. 8 Dr. Prole Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 2:25 pm

Yeah, shocking that some sick freak would take pictures of a stillbirth and call it an abortion along with an official letter from the mother for anti-choice propaganda purposes. I thought that all the “partial birth” aborted babies were torn limb from limb and their brains sucked out?

    Nice try, zygote zealot.

  8. 9 JJ Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:04 pm

Hi Bob. You don’t have anything better to do than google the word “Tiller” and post links to the fetus porn you’re jerking off over?

And it’s Sunday — why the fuck aren’t you in church??

  9. 10 JJ Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:05 pm

Q – Yep, looks like the real thing, let’s hope they treat him that way.

  10. 11 JJ Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:10 pm

Torontonian – It occurred to me that the authoritarians aren’t exactly the ones on our side, which is probably why they were so derelict in their duty to enforce the FACE Act on this Roeder creep while he was gluing clinic doors.

  11. 12 JJ Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:13 pm

Dr.Prole – It’s a coincidence that this guy ends up here today, I’d never heard of him until I stumbled over his site a couple of days ago.

    Whackjob of the highest order.

Gotta love the internet — people that would have been hidden under rocks 15 years ago are now slithering out there for all to see. *puke*

  12. 13 deBeauxOs Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:21 pm

Torture is always wrong. That being said, what is Scott Roeder up to? Does Kansas have capital punishment? Is that why he’s ready to make a deal with the district attorney and in return, rat out his fellow anti-abortion terrorists?

  13. 14 Dr. Prole Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:34 pm

JJ, Roeder the Murderer has been charged with 1st degree murder, not capital murder. Also a few counts of assault.

“District Attorney Nola Foulston said Roeder was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, not capital murder, because Tiller’s killing didn’t meet any of the criteria required in Kansas. Capital murder charges allow for the death penalty; first-degree murder can carry a life sentence.

“Under the facts and circumstances that are known at this time, the election has been to go with a first-degree murder,” Foulston said.”

    http://www.kansascity.com/703/story/1230964.html

Here’s the kicker though – they’ve set bond at $5 million, rather than hold him without. Can you believe that shit? That Arkansas dude who shot the soldiers is being held without bail and charged with capital murder and terrorism charges. The terrorism charges are because of the gunfire “occuring near other people”. Kind of like a Lutheran church at mass?!?

The differences in the treatment of the perpetrators of these two very similar acts of terrorism is disgusting.

  14. 15 JJ Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:34 pm

deBeauxOs – Roeder has been charged with 1st degree murder, not capital murder (which gets you a ride on Old Sparky or a lethal injection). So no death penalty for the freak. He will however probably live out the rest of his years in some supermax pen.

He may or may not really know anything. I doubt it. These whackos always have “other plans”, but I highly doubt if one of their rank and file would be privy to them. They operate the same way as Al Qaeda — there are a few at the top who should be questioned *enthusiastically*, but it’s unlikely they’d spill their other plans to any of their “suicide soldiers” except the ones who actually carry them out.

  15. 16 Dr. Prole Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:38 pm

Errr…sorry, meant that last comment as a reply to deBeauxOs.

Roeder has been diagnosed with schizophrenia in the past. Watch for an insanity defense. I bet he beats the rap.

  16. 17 JJ Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:39 pm

Dr. Prole – We must be on the same wave length 😉 I just posted the exact thing as you.

Yeah, what a difference. I think (though I’m not totally sure) killing a soldier is like killing a cop — in its own higher category than a regular murder. (Although it’s hard to think of a murder that results from a targeted hate campaign as being “regular”.)

Gee, don’t tell me Operation Rescue hasn’t bailed him out?? The ingrates, after all he did for them.

  17. 18 JJ Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:41 pm

    Dr. Prole

I bet he beats the rap

Don’t even say that. I am depressed enough 😦

  18. 19 Dr. Prole Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 3:52 pm

Sorry JJ. Just being realistic, and right now reality is mighty depressing. Medicinal wine and chocolate are in order, both in generous amounts.

No more! Post pictures of these domestic terrorists. Charge them with hate crimes.Expose them They are all accountable for the loss of a beautiful caring, compassionate doctor. They are public enemies.

Mmmmm. Dark chocolate and chilled bourbon are very good together.

  22. 23 Bina Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 9:10 pm

You don’t need a weatherman to tell you which way the wind’s blowing. And you don’t need this psycho to tell you that more terrorism is in the pipe. That Stanek bitch was already yapping on FUX Snooze about their next target. Jesus’ General had a piece on HER, if I’m not mistaken…

Anyhow, it’s pretty clear that they won’t stop as long as abortion is legal, or there are doctors doing it. Once they’ve eliminated the late-term doctors, they’ll start going after the first-trimester ones. I guarandamnteeya, these genocidal eliminationists won’t stop until women are filling up maternity wards with their dying carcasses again, just as in the “good” old days…with hemorrhages, infections, perforated uteri, etc.

I’m anti-torture, and even these freaks won’t turn me in favor of it. But it would be delightful to see them all perp-walked in public, in orange coveralls and leg irons. Wouldn’t it?

  23. 24 J. A. Baker Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 10:36 pm

He will however probably live out the rest of his years in some supermax pen.

It’s Kansas. They’ll probably give him a few years in a minimum security spider-hole and then look the other way when some OR flack slips him some escape gear, then make a half-assed effort to find him once he busts himself out.

  24. 25 J. A. Baker Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 10:39 pm

Refresh my memory, but isn’t Stanek the one who managed to slip a fruit-loopy fetus fetishist wet dream question into one of the presidential debates last fall?

  27. 28 JJ Monday, June 8, 2009 at 8:01 am

oemissions – I sure wouldn’t mind seeing the FBI raid Operation Rescue’s offices… hopefully they snapped up anything incriminating before the website was taken down and hosed off on Sunday.

It is high time they were designated as a terrorist organization.

  28. 29 JJ Monday, June 8, 2009 at 8:02 am

deBeauxOs – Ever had a brandy alexander? Mmmm chocolate…

  29. 30 JJ Monday, June 8, 2009 at 8:15 am

    Bina – I think you’re right. I watched “Soldiers in the Army of God” last night (posted here today), and that’s basically their contention: they won’t stop until they get their way, which is abortion banned and doctors tried and executed. {{{shudder}}}}

But they can’t do this by legal means, since the vast majority (69%) of Americans don’t think Roe v Wade should be overturned. So they will continue to incite violence and once in a while, one (or more) of them will spin out and take it a step further. And the “mainstream” anti-choice movement seems loathe to stop the violent rhetoric that helps light the nutcases up.

The only solution is more defensive tactics — bubble zones, armed guards around clinics, etc. Although none of that would have helped Dr. Tiller, since they obviously have no compunction about stalking people and killing them in churches.

Much as I hate to advocate for more laws, tougher domestic terrorism laws might be needed. Clinics shouldn’t have to live with a siege mentality.

  30. 31 JJ Monday, June 8, 2009 at 8:18 am

JAB – 😦 Don’t say that. Please. This guy is a terrorist, he should never see the light of day again. Auuuggghhh!

This guy is a terrorist, he should never see the light of day again. Auuuggghhh!

Oh, I’m in complete agreement with you on what should happen. I just thought you should know what will most likely happen.

Hell, here in Texas, Roeder would be given a medal and the keys to the governor’s mansion…once it gets rebuilt

  32. 33 Bina Monday, June 8, 2009 at 7:50 pm

…but isn’t Stanek the one who managed to slip a fruit-loopy fetus fetishist wet dream question into one of the presidential debates last fall?

Yup, dat’s da one. Psychopathic, ain’t she?

What I don’t understand is how a woman can be so willing to undermine her own sex. Does she seriously suppose that just because she’s never been in that situation (a pregnancy gone so far awry that it can kill or permanently maim a woman), no one else ever is, either? Shit, I’ve never even been pregnant (and if my tubal ligation holds true, I never will be), but I’ll fight tooth and nail for the right to choice anyway…as early as possible, as late as necessary. Maybe having four younger sisters and two nieces colors one’s outlook on these matters? How about just having a set of female plumbing? It does for me…

  33. 34 JJ Monday, June 8, 2009 at 9:01 pm

JAB – You could be right, if he’s tried and convicted as a lone nutbar. But I think there’s more to this story than some Operation Rescue hangaround going sideways and spiraling into violence.

There may well be a conspiracy in this thing — this guy is dead broke, $10 and a 15 year old beater car to his name. And yet he was in a total panic to get bail posted last week. He can’t pay it: Obviously he expects *someone else* to pay it. Once he figures out that *they* are in fact throwing him under the bus, he’ll start talking.

  34. 35 JJ Monday, June 8, 2009 at 9:17 pm

    Bina –

…but isn’t Stanek the one who managed to slip a fruit-loopy fetus fetishist wet dream question into one of the presidential debates last fall?

Yup, dat’s da one. Psychopathic, ain’t she?

That’s what’s frightening about these people — they’re pretty marginal in the overall scheme of things, but some of them have significant political clout (or at least did, until the Obama administration came in). Not to the point where they could get laws changed, but they were certainly more influential than they deserved to be.

What I don’t understand is how a woman can be so willing to undermine her own sex.

The anti-choice movement is by definition blatantly misogynist, and some of the women involved in it, especially the fanatics, are worse misogynists than any guy could ever dream of being. I’m sure there’s a lot of complex psychology involved, but a lot of it’s driven by hardcore religion, which tends to be ultra-patriarchal. It’s sick, really.

Stockholm Syndrome is not that complex, JJ.

Dr. Prole: “pictures of a stillbirth and call it an abortion”

Yes DP, you can sleep well tonight knowing that all our photos of late-term abortions (like those at http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/pictures_3.html ) are deceptive, being photos actually of children killed in drunk driving accidents, and still-births as you say, etc. Yes, you can sleep well tonight because no abortionist in America would kill a late-term child like that. Yes.

Did you have fun in jail, Bob? Cellmate look after you okay?
